    Not made in 25+ years. They were quite expensive in the day.
    I've seen more broken ones (30+) Folks call for parts and I just say good luck.

    They make 25x2 50 rd stick mags along with GSG German 110 rd drums for 10/22's. Reviews say they work fine.

    I haven't seen one of those AMT drums in decades. The clear plastic was cheap and tended to crack. The internal mechanism, which was some sort of clockwork spring, was equally cheap and wore down quickly. The back of the magazine has an opening for your finger to rotate the rotor (that sounds redundant) and the tension of the magazine spring gets pretty heavy after 30 rounds. 30 rounds is enough because if you load the drum to 50, the rotor has too much tension and won't feed the rounds reliably and the drum will jam. Since you can't really disassemble the thing, you have to tinker with the opening in the rear of the drum until the rotor until it frees itself. The locking tab on the drum was also a bit too short, so it tended to disengage from the rifle while shooting. Everything about the drum is cheap, and as hoosier said, good luck finding repair parts. Your money, your call, but I'd never buy one.

    Sportsmans guide offered some decent drum mags including for the ruger 10/22...

    I had a "friend" who owns and shoots a pair of Calico M100's and while the factory mags have been relatively problem free some of the after market rotary hexagonal mags were as Mark describes and at best poorly executed - the plastic even opaqued and yellowed and spider cracked...

    The architecture that inserted and locked into the receiver and the feed lip arrangements often failed after moderate range usage.

    I have had good luck with the TI-25's, Ruger's own BX-25's, and the old Butler Creek Hot Lips type. None are 50 rounds though most can do the 'jungle mag' to combine two. I also have a Bingham slim line mag that takes the metal adaptor to work in a 10/22. I like those. I absolutely stay away from Ram-line magazines, especially their higher capacity models. Pro-Mag now has a few different ones and I know many of the AR guys like their stuff the best.
    MWG and Brownells make a 50 round mag of the drum/tear drop style. The latter has a lifetime warranty so maybe that is worth a try.

    Yes, I have one. Mine didn't jam when I used it but they are noted to jab. I got mine to go with my AMT collection of firearms.

    For one that works like a charm, get the one made by GSG ...great drum mag that feeds perfectly

    It may not be 50 rds. but this "Quad Clip would be a lot more dependable and smaller that a drum.

    This is for my brother. He has the 10/22, actually inherited from my mom, but he doesn't know too much about guns.
    Today we ordered the GSG 110 rd mag. That looks like a lot of fun plus it gets great reviews.

    Interesting name. GSG is the name of the badass German "Green Berets," Granze Schutze Gruppe 9. These are the guys they send in when terrorists hijack an airplane, GSG 9 takes care of business.

    Good name for a German armaments company.
