Older Savage 110 rifles barrel change question
Hello, a local guy is selling an older savage 110 rifle at a givaway price. While I dont need a 30-06 I kinda want a 338-06 to play with. The rifle has the barrel nut, are barrels easily available for the older 110's

I've swapped out 4 or 5 Savage 110 barrels using mostly homemade fixtures. You'll need a barrel nut wrench and action wrench. I found it much easier to also use a barrel vise but some may find that optional. I made the barrel vise and inserts so that was a minimal expense.
Headspacing is the big issue both in performance and safety. I went the cheap route which took more time and was less precise but this hasn't caused any problems in over a decade of using the rebarrelled rifles.0
