My son's girlfriend asked if he would save her or his mom if he were forced to choose

I'd save my mother. I can always find another girlfriend, but I'll never have another mother.

Tell your son to be wary of girls who want to play the "what if" game. There is no way for a man to win in that game.

Life is to short do deal with insecure people. She knew the answer before the question was asked.

Now wife and mother of his child that's a whole different equation...

Put a ring on it and produce an heir and cohabitate - share a bank account and a dog and the paradigm shifts some...

she failed her own simple test...tell your son to run like hell and find another girlfriend with a better mindset or he may be doomed to a life of misery

Have him ask her what SHE would do.
All he had to do was say, "You tell me first."

I had one tell me I had to choose between her & my cigars. Can't even remember her name. Did finally give up the cigars quite a few years ago when the prices suddenly soared.

Couldn't agree more Mike. The answer to that question, if any given, would (and probably should) swing from one side to the other as life progresses. Now, after being married 29 years to the love of my life, I'll save my wife over either of my parents and especially myself.

The full answer should be "I'd save the one who would never ask me that kind of question."

That girl is a mind game player. Good thing he learned it now.

If a girl I was dating ever asked me that question, I would tell her it's time that I took her home and never see her again...

This is why a normal marriage is a thing of the past.

EDIT: Just viewed this video on The Outsiders YouTube channel that kind of answers this question, plus his wife had incurable brain cancer. Hard to focus on building a log cabin with your father with NO MONEY in the Canadian "sticks" but he's done one heck of a job.
