Just got my 9/19 issue today. Big cover story, is the "Winchester 350 Legend". Unfortunately they neglected to mention, the 351 Winchester cartridge. Circa 1907. The only significant difference, between the two. Is that the Legend's case, is 5/16" longer.
It might be me, but I thought it really funny. Them digging up a obsolete cartridge. That went dormant over 60 years ago. Because nobody wanted to buy it. Then resurrecting it. And expecting the sheeple, to break down the doors of their LGS, to get their hands on one.

the laws in several northern states with previous shotgun only areas had a lot to do with the physical size of that cartridge. i think it also operates at a much higher pressure level than the 351. 0 -
Read the article, and the author really hyped the round up as if he owned stock. I doubt if the round will be a success.
Not a fan of any WW proprietary cartridges. If they don't sell, you end up with a gun you cant buy ammo for and WW is the first quit manufacturing their own stuff. IE, all the short mags except 270 and 300, 375 win, 307 etc. IMHO, make sure you by plenty of ammo and save the brass if you want one.0 -
The article that got me was the President's Column by Carolyn Meadows. They've finally taken some notice of the scandal around Wayne Lapierre but she didn't discuss any of the details. All she did was waste an entire page with a puff piece for Wayne. It isn't hard to see who butters her bread. 0 -

If you lived in a "straight case for deer" state, and you couldn't make do with a 357 Max or a 375 Win, not to mention the several 44 and 45 options, do they think you'd weep for joy over a 350?
There's one reason for this round: it will fit the AR platform.0 -

I agree, you can sell any cartridge that will fit an AR... until the next new round that fits an AR comes along.

Nope. The only "International Slow Fire" I know of is ISSF 50 meter "free pistol" which is shot with .22 LR, as are 25 meter standard pistol and rapid fire. Rapid fire was the last holdout of .22 Short but it was changed to require LR several years ago.
All I can find on Biathalon is that the Anschutz Fortner straight pull made for the event is a LR.0 -

It won't be successful if the libs get their wish and outlaw modern sporting rifles. Or as the evil assault rifles as they call them. I really hope this cartridge is a success on the AR platform but I'm not sure this is the best time for Winchester to count on that. Bob0 -

bought 20 boxes of ammo at an auction yrs ago. Floor guy delivered it to me. Auctioneer announced it as .308 and it was factory .375 Winchester. For 3 bucks a box I wasn't complaining regardless what it was. Sold it all on GB for 75 box. Big Score ..0 -
I just finished the magazine. I skipped the article of the 350 legend, I have no use for it and would not even consider owning one.
First off I don't hunt anymore but when I did, if I was limited to straight wall cartridges there are plenty out there that will fill the role of the 350L.
Second as a handloader I really don't want to mess with a straight wall cartridge unless I have to.
Waste of time like so many New Super duper whiz bang cartridges are.
When I get my American Rifleman I read the back then the historical section then maybe a few articles about handloading or other things that interest me. The ILA section gets skipped the Wayne's world BS gets skipped and all the Taurus adverts and John Commemorative garbage get skipped. There are maybe 4 atricles I read. I am glad is is free because I would want to pay for it like I do Handloader, Guns and Ammo and Precision Rifle.0 -
After reading, the 350 write up again. I think that the legend cartridge, in a AR has definite possibilities, if your a reloader. The SAAMI specs for bullet diameter are .357 - .003. Which means to me, you can use any .380/9mm/.38 or .357 bullet. ( IF YOUR A CARE FULL, AND KNOWLEDGEABLE RELOADER)
The only potential drawback is that the barrel twist, is probably set up for the heavier bullets. I use to load a lot of the, Remington 103 grain Golden Sabre .380 bullets, in 9mm & 9 X 23 brass. As I recall, they were between 1400 & 1500 croned. Wonder what they would do from a AR. And if they would stabilize and hold together. If red lined from 350 Legend brass.0
