    Yes. It has its place though I like the 6mm Rem better for older cartridges in that caliber. Yes that does look like a decent price, particularly with the VX-III on it.

    I have the MkII version with a Burris Fullfield II 4-12x44
    That?s a dang good price. The older ones have a significant following.
    Noticed it?s listed in LEVER ACTION RIFLES.
    Maybe that?s why it has no bids.

    Never noticed the listing category. I clicked on his pre 64 264 and found this under his other auctions... We can just keep it our secret for now.. :o It's about 8 miles from my house.

    I varmit with a Remington 700 BDL bull barrel topped with a 36x Leupold scope. Cover a 5 shot group with a dime if Im on. Love the outfit.

    First rifle I ever bought...back in 1969, from the base Rod & Gun Club in England. I bought a Parker Hale Model 1100 bolt-action rifle in 243. I put a Redfield 3X-9X Widefield scope on it.

    I am not a fan or vocal proponent of the .243 but that's a sweet rifle with superior optics and I think I could manage to find an open slot in one of the safes or gun cabinets of it fell into my possession...

    Back in the 80's I was a 243 bandit. Sakos, Remington, Winchester XTR's Ruger ect. and the one that shot best was the pre warning regular barrel 243 that just shot unbelievably --- I took a twenty spot from my brother when he said I couldn't hit the bottom end of a pop can at 200 yards... :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
    A year or so later I :oops: :cry: sold it for some reason -

    His pics need to be a little closer to tell the wear on it but you would have 600 in a good shooter I would think.

    Shoot a 243 custom built by a reputable maker, 62 grain Bergers, fast, flat and accurate, and a 6 x 284, 115 grain Bergers, sort of fast but deadly way out there. Son shoots vermin with a 243 firing 55 grain ballistic tips over 4,000 fps, laser flat and not much left to clean up after a good shot.
    Sister in law shoots a stock model 7 Remington for deer, small lady and has some recoil issues, deer hardly ever take more than a couple steps when she pulls the trigger.
    Enough to say I like a 243.

    LOVE the 243. I have a Browning 78 High wall that has dropped more deer than you can believe. Back in the 80s the game warden told me it was OK to shoot them out of my corn fields after dark. Super high unemployment that fall. I pretty much fed about half the township that fall. I'm not going to tell you how many dropped to my Browning but they were all one shot stops. That rifle also got my 20 year old son his first deer 8 years ago!!

    I might consider a Cooper model 84 lightweight in a cubist gray dazzle camo pattern with a fluted 22" bbl and a flat stainless Leopold compact long eye relief forward mount scout scope...

    With a single set trigger - and a trigger shoe - recessed target crown cut with an 11? bevel

    That might be marginally acceptable.

    I have 2 Winchester USRAC coyotes in 243. One with the brown laminate and one with the grey laminate. Both are shooters and have accounted for a lot of prairie dogs with 75gr Sierras. I know I can drop down to 55gr and go a lot faster but I think I'll get longer barrel life with the heavier but slower bullets. As far as deer I stick with at least 25 caliber. 257 Roberts has never failed me and neither has the 7x57. Bob

    I prefer my .250-3000 savage and my .236 Lee Navy and my 7X57mm Mauser

    Personal preference - I just like their niche performance envelopes especially with the lighter faster bullets - Norma oryx heads if possible...
