Designated Driver
Well, not for the usual party events and just about as opposite as you can get for my purpose.
Taking my younger brother to the Hospital for his first Colonoscopy. I must stay there (within paging range) for the trip home or they will not perform the procedure.
Pretty sure that he has been having an extraordinary night of it, with all of the prep and poop stuff! I'll be picking him up at his house at 9:30 AM for the 10 mile drive to the Hospital. Wonder if I need to put a garbage bag down on the passenger seat?!

Just remember, tell your brother, when that anesthetist offers to do the procedure with no anesthetic, tell him, "No, I want Versed."

For at least a year afterwards, if more than 20' away from a toilet would never make it as 'retention of a bowel movement' was gone.
Never had so many dirty pants since being a baby.
That particular human orfice is made for stuff to come OUT of, not go INto.0 -
My second wife?s first husband had one a long time ago. They nicked it tore something in there. He spent months in and out of the hospital. Navy medical and certainly a fluke. But every time I or Ms. WT goes for one I think of that. 0 -
Here they use cell numbers, so I can run over to Starbucks and get refreshed, unless I am the one getting it. That is more better I think. Warn him the prep is far, far worse than the procedure, so if he survives the prep it is all down hill. 0 -
Too late now but wet wipes are your friend, you don't want to wipe yourself raw.
Also the colder you can get the prep the easier I found it to be to go down, the first few swigs you think, what the heck is everyone bitching about then after a few swigs it gets much harder to drink that crud. As noted the rest is down hill LOL0 -

Yes. This happened to my wife?s cousin. Perforated colon. He was in bad shape for a few days. He was 60. That?s one reason they don?t like to do them after a certain age.
I had one a couple of months ago. When they were preparing me for surgery, a young lady was telling me what was going on and what they were going to do. I thought she was a young nurse.
She was the doctor performing the procedure! I almost go up and left right then. I guess they got to start sometime.0 -
colonscopy is a simple procedure design to prevent you from DYING from colon cancer..... cut out your glutton eating habits 2 days before pooping prep and that makes it easier ..i want it CLEAN enuff to spot everything and treat accordingly ...my doc is the worlds best.. no pain, no gas, no problem except nurse trying to wake me up early from the best nap in 30 years...on a 5 year schedule and met a man on a 6 months schedule..he was growing polyps like a garden ....wowser...it took my dad 5 miserable years to die from CC spreading all over...NOT ME 0 -
I brought a book to read while I was in the waiting room. "Foxfire 5" has been collecting dust on my bookshelf since I last read it more than 25 years ago. Anyway, I was allowed to go into brother's pre-op and started paging into chapter one as he was getting undressed and into his gown.
As he finished, his nurse came in and started asking him questions regarding his prep. She got to the one about when was your last meal or beverage. He stated he hadn't eaten in over 24 hours, but had been drinking water up until about an hour before getting to the hospital!!
That stopped everything in its tracks. Nurse gave him the option to remain in the holding area for a minimum of another 6 hours with nothing by mouth or to cancel and reschedule the procedure for a later date.
He chose the latter and I took him home. It was an interesting morning to say the least. Being just the designated driver, I really had nothing to do with any of the goings on and no idea my brother botched the part about water intake. He may or may not opt to get the colonoscopy done sometime down the road.0 -

A friend of mine went in for that procedure and he did not have a appointment for that day. (he had the appointment date wrong) :oops: His colonoscopy appointment was re-scheduled for few days later and he said the guy doing the procedure few days later said his insides looked like white cotton. 0 -

Just had my first one done a couple of months back. Did colonoscopy and endoscopy on the same day (hopefully colonoscopy after endoscopy). Honestly, the only part that was of any hassle was the hunger. The new solution to drink actually tasted good. I had an hour to drink each of the two solution diluted in water. I finished each of them in 20 minutes, but I'm also used to drinking at least a gallon of water a day. 0
