Slaw Dogs -

I know it is a "Southern thing," (but) premium hot dogs slow sautee'd in butter, & browned on a cast iron skillet.

Wrapped in a soft multi grain, brown bread slice. (Hot dog buns?) Are you kidding me? Choke........:cry:
Ever seen a multi grain, brown bread, hot dog bun? Nope, me either. (Bleached white bread, or the best - potatoe buns.)

Mustard, fine diced onion, (and yes) - a copious amount of Cole Slaw on them.

Mmmnnnn, mmnnn............................................................................................................... :D

    You forgot the damn ketchup you heathen. And I would prefer sauerkraut. And don't buy the cheap Piggly Wiggly dogs either. Get Nathan's or Hebrew National.

    While I agree on the two brands stated, ketchup on a hot dog is utter NC ignorance. (Might as well put mayonnaise on one.)

    I also, do not mind some good sauerkraut on a dog. We can agree there.

    I used to buy frozen Food Lion store brand pizza and dump a can of Bush's Baked Beans on top just before the pizza is done. Ummmmm good. Drain them first. I like to add a can of green peas to Mac and cheese. Hey they are building a new K F C here. Are you gonna be at the grand opening????

    We have our own newly opened KFC here in Mtn. City. :D (Opened alongside the Taco Bell.) :D




    I currently have a dish of sweet peas, sliced/diced red pepper from the garden, and a large rough diced portabella mushroom, over butter, salt/pepper and EVOO - simmering. Mmmnnnn good.

    Kind of like the movie SWAT, where they are interviewing the white dude (cop) and they go to a street vendor hot dog stand, and he orders a vegan dog. :o :shock: :? :cry: :roll:

    I like a slaw dog occasionally. There is a place nearby (currently closed due to damage from twister) that has a slaw that I'd say falls in the middle between traditional slaw like KFC/Long John Silvers, and sauerkraut.

    However, my hotdog of choice arguably isn't a hotdog. Johnsonville 'Beddar With cheddar". I do use sweet relish on it. Depending on how dry the bug is, I may add ketchup or mustard.

    Yes, Johnsonville Brats, rock. (Cooked/steamed with beer of course.) :)

    As well as all of their other sausage varieties. Good stuff.

    As long as you do not defile them with ketchup or mayonnaise, they are pretty much good to go. :D

    Nathan's Sabret or Hebrew National, grilled loaded with any of the following spicy brown mustard, sauerkraut, onions. No cheese, no mayo, Ketchup is out, slaw no thanks, chili to messy.

    You were all good, until the "no slaw, no chili, too messy," comment.

    Geez, what is a properly made dog, unless messy?

    Diced Jalepeno's, a few slivers/shredded sharp cheddar cheese, etc.

    NO ketchup or mayonnaise, or the combination of the two, manifesting itself in to "special sauce."

    Might as well be drinking Coors Light, at that point. :o :shock: :? :roll: :lol:

    Here in North Carolina red hot dogs rule the roost. There is only one brand to consider .... Carolina Bright Leaf and ketchup and melted cheese are mandatory
