small rant, question???

stopped on the way home from DMV at Krogers to get beer and soap. I have used coast blue soap for the last 40-50 years, guess call it habit or just set in my ways, went to get the soap and they had reset the soap section there were 50 million different types,smells of liquid body wash and only the two bottom 4ft shelves of bar soap, and NO COAST!!!!!!, sat the beer down and headed for wally world. got there and they had cut back from about a 1/2 aisle to maybe 4-5 ft of bar soap but did have my coast and headed for beer, THEY WERE OUT OF MY BRAND!!!!!!!!! but hey I guess I will smell good while I break out a few gin and tonics.....

anyone else notice stores cutting back on bar soap????

    In an odd coincidence, I bought about half a dozen bars of Coast soap at the Dollar Tree today. Bar soap has been falling out of favor, and more shelf space is dedicated to "body wash", which I don't like, but I keep available for guests (to conserve bar soap). A Bombay Sapphire and tonic with a twist of lime sound great...except I don't have any tonic water, or limes :evil:

    Bar soap has gone by the wayside. Body wash has replaced it and that's the end of the rope for soap commercial sales.

    real irritating when something you like and use disappears...now i buy multiples so maybe i can go till i find it somewhere else....now the local dollar general had a white bag of sweet sixteen chocolate donuts ....much bigger than other brands and best flavor choco...one day they were gone and i have NEVER found them anywhere ????? curses

    If you EVER find something that you really really really REALLY like-

    Buy a lifetime supply of it. They are gonna quit making that. Anybody recall a candy bar called 7 Up? No relation to the soft drink.

    I do remember it. There were half a dozen little squares inside the wrapper which all had a different flavor. They were all pretty darned good, but the coconut was my favorite.

    I too remember the old 7 Up candy bar. My favorite section had an orange jelly center. When they quit making them I became hooked on Brach's Bridge Mix assorted chocolates. Then Brach's started production out of Mexico and also quit making the jelly filled in the bridge mix. Gave them up cold turkey! Now at Christmas time I will pick up one of those segmented chocolate oranges. Just for old time sake!

    When it comes to bar soap, my wife taught me years ago to buy in large quantities when it went on sale. We always use Dial soap along with Dove mild soaps. I also keep a good bunch of Lava for heavy duty hand clean ups. We have an entire old dresser that each drawer is full of bar soaps.

    Her most important "trick" is to unwrap each individual bar before placing it in storage. The soap will harden along with making the entire room smell nice. The aged hardened bars will actually last longer in use than a new bar fresh out of the box!
