my day at DMV.....long read
got letter from state saying basically they could find no insurance on my truck, listed year and vin number, name, tags ect.
called the insurance company this morning they told me no problem stop by and they would take care of it. the form had a 1 instead of a 2 at the begining of my vin number, went home got title it also a one, my bill of sale had 2, insurance paperwork was 2, they took picture of vin tag sent to state it was 2. so went to DMV with the letter and insurance paperwork, bill of sale and the title which had been printed wrong with a 1 instead of 2, this has been almost a year and a half since I bought the truck. figured I would get all kinds of hassle and have to spend few days running from DMV to car lot and in circles.
Lady at DMV was as nice as could be, and nice to look at also, she looked up old title, looked at bill of sale and just shook her head, she said it was their mistake as old title also had 2, someone had just mistakenly put a one on my new title. she said she would send paperwork in and it should be taken care of, I ask her about the letter from state saying I had no insurance and would it get straightened out before the title could be fixed, they only gave me 30 days or were going to pull my liscence.
she said just a minute went back to talk to lady in back office, came back in few minutes and said if I didn't mind waiting they would call main office and print me a new title on spot once they got authorization, so I sat down for about 15 minutes and she motioned for me to come to window and appologized but said it may take a while they were at mercy of main office and if I didn't want to wait she would mail me the new title. I asked if I could come back later and get it she took my phone number and said they would call when they got it . few hours later they called and I went and got my new title and the lady had gotten hold of the dept that sent letter and said a man guaranteed her it would be fixed. I have never been treated this nice and told the lady so and ask for her boss on the way out and told her boss the same thing, her boss was the one who called main office to straighten it out, she appologized also, I thanked them both and told her I had never gotten such nice service from state agency. even though it was their fault and their job to correct it most would have just pushed it off on another dept and had me going in cirles and countless paperwork.
just goes to show their are some nice and thoughtful people working in our state gov't who take pride in their work...

Same type of folks here in Moorefield WV MVD. Very nice and very helpful. If you treat them nice and with respect, they?ll bend over backwards to help.
Let?s not even start discussing the Va MVD in NOVA!0 -
You got that last part right. In Virginia, if they determine you don?t have liability insurance, your drivers license is automatically revoked. They don?t make mistakes, just ask them. 0 -
Count your blessings it was not the FAA or IRS. 0
