Throw some dirt on it!
I grew up tough. Being the youngest of 3 older brothers and basically no Mom so to speak, we done crazy stuff! Getting hurt as part of it.
I wouldn't even try to count the Stitches and broken Bones that we have had. Sniveling and whining about them were Taboo! Scars were conversation pieces and we were always comparing them.
If one of our Relatives died suddenly, we had no idea that that person had been suffering for years. It just wasn't talked about.
It seems now days that if you get sick, everyone has to know and sympathy has and should be given!
What happened to Pride and being tough?

Toughing it out and not complaining is a conservative trait.
LIBERALS believe everything is horrible and complain all the time. Some libs can't put it in words.

When I was a kid my old man would whip my ass for just about any infraction, I never cried and it PO'ed him. I pride myself in being tough and the ability to drive on no matter what.0 -

Its funny that you should mention that. I grew up tough, but not stupid! Being the youngest, I learned from them on what not to do!
We all got into some pretty serious trouble one time and my Dad lined us up for a whoopin, Starting with my oldest Brother on down to me. He held it in as long as he could but finally gave in. Then came the middle one. He was Nuts at birth and could take pain! Dad kept whooping on him and he wouldn't give in. He actually said, "What are you trying to do, tickle me"? Then it was my turn. I drew tears before he even touched me. I don't know if my plan worked or if he was just worn out but I got off easy!
It was when I walked into the bedroom, laughed and called my brothers idiots that I got my ass kicking!

oh the good old days playin with your buddies and 10 minutes later fighting with them and start over
. g get me a switch and if it breaks while I whipping you you will go get another
I recall all the neighbor hood kids and I in the summer displaying all there welts and strips from switches and leather belts wearing shorts did not hide the "lesson " just received
I visited the school principal's from grade school thru high school for fighting . I loved to fight even if not mine I would jump in or on the participants lost track of how many paddlings or wackes over the years
it started before I even went to school a kid a year older use to thump me I would go home like a little sissy dad said look if there bigger get you a big stick next day it worked sent the kid home with a few knots on his head ( we became buddies I guess we still are I have not seen him for 30 years though
I was always the small kid and the older kids showd no mercy when fighting or playing ( like football ) I was tossed down so manty stairwells and locked in so many lockers
I would not trade my beatings and fun in fighting it for anything though . I did get out of terh fighting bars and liquid muscle just got to serious0 -
At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child ? miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats."

I didn?t tell anyone but my boss that I was going to Mayo Clinic getting nerves burned in my back again (i t?s the 3rd or 4th time, it?s not a huge deal and I?m typically only gone a couple days) they barely put me under for the procedure ... well the phones went down at one of our out of state locations, their IT guy recently retired and no one really knew what to do. it sounds like it was chaos for half the day before anyone called me. When The call rolled to my cell phone and I told them I didn?t know what was going on because I was at Mayo actually changing to go into surgery but could get on it in an hour or so ... the out pouring of sympathy was near sickening. I told everyone it was no big deal, a couple minutes with a laser and I?d be ?on it?. (although it felt more like someone using a hammer on my back)
So, change of plan, got a ?local? instead of ?going under? and in about an hour, with a couple pain pills & extra strength Tylenol and I was functioning. Armed with my phone I had the problem isolated and a repair team authorized ... not to make lite of the situation because in a new car dealership, the phone is the life-line of the business, but I?d hate to have an actual crisis and no one know what to do.0 -
It's the same "It's all about me" attitude that is fostered by the weenies that push things like facebook and twitter. 0
