how long do you like it???
The bed on your truck of course... For towing my fifth wheel trailer, and just general use I couldn't stand a short bed truck. Sure my 2017 3500 Ram is a big turd, I couldn't hardly think of driving anything else. What say you??

Eight foot bed for me, thanks. I see these "big" diesel crew cabs with a 6' bed, what a joke. Some of these 4 door Toy junkers have a bed that ain't much more than 4'

How do you like that 3500? I'm looking at picking up a 4500 very soon. I need to haul about 300,000 lbs of building materials to my job site, and regular semis can't make it there. Plus, I need to move shipping containers, skip loaders, etc.

It's the best truck that I have ever owned. Very comfortable and quiet with more do dads than I could have imagined. The 6.7 tows my 5th wheel trailer loaded around 23k as fast as I want to pull it. Get the factory tow package with the set up in the bed for fifth wheel and a goose neck. Only complaint that I have with it is the factory brake controller doesn't work very well when you have a heavy load and need upwards of 9 volts to make the brakes work properly. I just took it into the dealer and they said it was working fine. It was set on heavy electric and the gain at 10 and was only putting out 63% power. Works fine on lighter trailers though. It is an ongoing problem with Ram and they don't want to address it. A Tekonsha P3 controller with a wiring harness fixed that problem. I went with the factory transmission since I wasn't going to turn it up and I don't pull all of the time. However, if you are going to be pulling quite a bit you might look into getting the Aisin tranny.0 -
My Chevy truck (2018 Silverado, crew cab) has a short bed, my Ford (1989 F-150, standard cab) has a long bed I don't haul much in either one of them.
The short bed trucks look better, the long beds ride and tow better.
The F-350, crew cab, long bed that I had took a six lane highway to make a U-turn and was really hell in a parking lot.0 -
When I replaced the Dodge 3500 Cummins 4x4 Crew cab longbed I tried for months to locate a long bed 4 door or xtended cab pickup and had no luck. Short bed trucks to me are useless. I had one a long time ago. pulled out of Lowes with about 24 sheets of plywood, tailgate down to support them and bingo dumped the whole load on the road. You see them short bed guys with either a 4' or 6' bed with a chrome tool box taking up half the space. The cab space is out of balance to the truck. Looks like comfort for the passengers takes priority to what a truck is for. Speaking of which in my opinion trucks start becoming trucks when they become 3/4 ton up on ratings. 10 ply tires, heavy duty suspensions. I have owned one half ton car mobile in my lifetime. It was practically useless cause it wouldn't tow safely with the wimpy springs and suspension. But yet those dealers out there will tell the customer that the truck is rated to tow x amount of pounds. Well when Mr. semi goes by and you feel like you are a victim of a large vacuum cleaner and almost crash you learn real quick to buy a larger truck. My replacement truck a 3/4 ton Ford SuperDuty 4x4 Supercab 8' bed. Former owner even put an air ride suspension on it. 0 -
not new by any strech but I have a short bed cab and a half its a 6 or 6.5 foot bed and two regular cab 8" bed trucks the 8' bed trucks get used more for project hauling the short bed well grocery or the things you always need when working on something .
I truly like the looks of a early chevy or ford Ok dodge short bed trucks from the 60"s push come to shove I would go with a long bed
several years ago at the Woodward dream cruse in Detroit ( great time if you like cars of any description )
most manufactures have one off build it because we can and or the latest offerings any way dodge ( Ram ) had a normal pickup except with a 10 foot bed any one could special order I seem to recall it was 5K ? extra maybe closer to 10K more than a 8' version it looked odd but would make a great contractor pick up and bragging rights on who had the longest0 -
just stopped at the local chevy dealer last week, was looking for king cab, don't want actual four door, and 8ft bed. saleslady told me chevy didn't make a 1/2 ton with an 8ft bed anymore you had to got to 3/4 ton. I just want it to haul my side x side so I can close the tailgate when hauling it. told her no problem I would go to ford she then said they didn't either claimed no one did a 1/2 ton with 8ft bed anymore. well talking to my sons father in law this weekend he said she was lying their company had just bought two new fords last week with 8ft bed, he said they buy the 1/2 tons because resale is higher when they let them go. also saw a toyota at the gas station that had a 8ft bed it was some oil/gas company truck. I think car salesmen/women are worse than politicions neither can tell the truth....... 0
