Have you ever had something drop shipped?
I ordered a 7? flail mower and they shipped it ABF Freight. They were supposed to call 24 hours before delivery. I made arrangements with a local equipment dealer to unload it. The folks I ordered it from said it would be delivered today.
So far I have not heard a thing from the truck company.
Fortunately the local business said it was no problem, they could unload it any time during business hours.
I parked my truck and trailer at the local business so they can set the mower off the semi.
We?ll see.

Lots of online places drop ship from the manufacturer instead of carrying stock. 0 -
I ordered a motor, Chev. 350, it was supposed to be delivered to the train station. I returned to my job after a day of doing field inspections and was told I have a package, a 350 Chev. motor was sitting in front of my office door. No idea how they got my work address or why they delivered it there? Just kind of surprising, I never did look into it. 0 -
For items like that I have them ship to local trucking warehouse. I have warehouse call me when it is in and then I go pick up with my truck. WH has forklift and they load equipment right into the truck.
This saves on shipping costs and I can go to pick up when conv. for me.0 -
Thanks. I didn?t know which carrier they were using until after it had shipped. ABF Freight has a terminal in Roanoke, Virginia which is about an hour from me. If the local business hadn?t agreed to unload it, I would have driven to the terminal.
I have picked up items from Yellow Freight and Old Dominion and the terminal guys were very nice about it.0 -

Yes. They usually call ahead and tell me a 2 hour window of delivery. Then I just put the forklift forks right up to the back of the delivery truck. Inspect, unload no problem no hassle. 0 -
Not a big item but since our Government has made it a point that everyone's AC unit that uses Freon is obsolete when mine does go out I am going to just order a new unit online and install it myself,,its not that difficult to replace an existing unit 0 -

Samething here...bought wheels that came on a pallet by freight and a front replacement bumper ( 300 lbs), and brush guard once and had all of them left for terminal pick up. It's cheaper and large trucks can't make it to where I live. A couple times I picked the trucking company based on their terminal location through the seller.0 -

My last rifle I shipped here was dropped and kicked and beat to death and broke in two places. But USPS said, ohh, ok, no your claim is denied, twice. 0 -

I?m not one to bitch about slow shipping especially when it?s free, but I need to insure someone is available to off load my mower. It?s 1350 lbs. and over 7 ft. long.0 -
Three years ago, I had a skidloader brush grapple attachment delivered to a "business location". I was monitoring the shipping closely so the business didn't have to mess around too much. I got a message that the item was being delivered and went to meet the truck. Two hours and 1/2 dozen phone calls determined that meant it had been dropped at a second trucking company which would make the actual drop. I contacted that company and got a delivery date several days later. Next morning while I was elbow deep in another project, the local business calls asking when I can pick up the crate.
Too many variables involved with drop shipping in rural areas IMHO. I only use that method if no other options available.0 -
I am in a rural area and have good luck with drop shipping. 2 post car lift, lumber, welders, log splitters, compressor, bulk steel are some thing I have had delivered by drop shipping. I always get the same driver.
I tell him to use the loader tractor parked in the yard and lift the item off the trailer onto the ground.
A couple times I get free from work and meet the truck at my house.0 -

The problem with this is called a "triangulation" Scam.
Fake sellers, set up and look legitimate, but then you pay them, and they order the merchandise with stolen credit cards. Had that happen to me once.0
