Check? Sure. You can have the truck two weeks after the check clears. That okay with you?

If I were you, I would get a counterfeit detection pen also. Don't know about your area, but around here there are a lot of fake bills floating around.

    buyer:Take a check?
me: Yeah no problem, this is your correct address on the check?
    buyer: sure, why?
me: that way I know where to find you if the check's not good
buyer with eyes wide and a little white showing: you'd do that?
me: hell yes and I wouldn't come alone

I like the way you think. :)
I buy and sell on Craigslist. It?s always best to spell out clearly the terms of the sale in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
    NO CHECKS
    LOCAL SALE ONLY
CALLS OR TEXTS, EMAILS WILL BE DELETED
    NO CALLS AFTER 10 PM
YOU MUST BRING SOMEONE TO HELP YOU LOAD IT
IF THE AD IS STILL UP IT?S FOR SALE.
    ETC.

Local sheriff has a "Craigs List" parking lot. you have made a deal with someone to buy something- concerned about having them at your house, or meeting them with cash money? Use the parking lot. Right next to the Sheriff's office.

Ditto our police station has the same and it is monitored with cameras, plus local gun shop ALLIED ARMS lets people to face to face in their store for safety.

The only time I ever got cheated on an internet ad sale took place in a city PD parking lot.
Sale was dependent on in person acceptance of the item or full refund of good faith money. When I refused to accept the item and asked for my good faith money back, the seller pointed at his wife sitting in a car holding a phone and a cop standing at the door of the PD building. Apparently the "deal" had already been worked out.
If doing business in a "protected area" makes you feel better, go for it but don't expect it to really help you in case of a fraudulent setup. Many local cops are easily bought and if you're outside the deal, you're screwed.

I sold a vehilcle on fleabay. Bidder was not buyer. Son in law was bidder. Buyer sent wire to bank. I picked son in law up at airport. Said I could see his drivers license for ID. Nope.. I had two bill of sales one for him one for me. Had him roll his thumbprint on mine. Said he had never heard of anything like that. I told him drivers license could be faked.

been a while but I use to trade sell buy as I would get bored with what I was driving
I had a older pickup I was selling (maybe 20 years ago ) nothing fancy just a old truck a old buddy I had not seen in 15 years shows up I give him a price way below what I was asking I knew he never had much and trying to do a favor . still did not work out no cash what so ever .
the next day a friend of his shows up ask about the truck I said I did tell Joe 1000 . but we were old friends . but WTH give me a 1k and its yours OK will you take 25.00 a month and let me take the truck today ...AHHHHH NO .
people always wanting to undercut and telling me about one just like it ( what ever I was selling ) for about 1/2 I would always say were it at I will buy it now :D
honest I hated more driving 50 or 100 miles one way to look at a car / truck ( pre internet and photo days ) that the seller would swear was rust free really nice to find a turd that at one time was a nice car ( when it was new ) or a weekend patch and paint job over huge holes and damage
wife suffered thru a year riding along a 200 mile radius of our town trying to find a nice 69 Camaro for me '
I could not count the ones that were really nice like new no rust cars drive two hours pull in the drive way get out and say no with in 30 seconds and drive back home so much junk it was frustrating some were up set be surprised when I would point out all the faults and terrible repairs
I once went to look at a old chevy pick up the fellow on the phone said no rust great looking truck I pull up yep no rust but the whole side of the truck had been crushed in . well I said no rust you did not ask about wrecked :o:o
too many stories any one who has sold or bought a used vehicle I am sure has been thru it

I went with a co-worker we would check out cars together so emotions ( got to have feeling ) would not over rule reality we went once for hm to look at a old jeep the seller said the engine was rebuilt .Ok wht all you have done well they put in new plugs wires and points you know they rebuilt the engine for me    allrighty see ya
