Liking the dual chambering -

Like my .357 being able to shoot .38 Special, I am equally liking my .44mag being able to download to .44 Special.

An added bonus.

I've got the Rifle/Hangun combo in .44mag. I now need an accompanying rifle in .357. My preference would be an IDI Timberwolf. I would not be too upset with a Rossi/Henry lever action in .357 as well.


(But) I would Really like a Timberwolf. Anyone got one up for sell, holler at me. (Through GB of course.)

    I have a uberti rolling block carbine chambered in .357 magnum that also accepts .38 specials and .38 long colts...

    This is a former shot show display gun - it comes with a conversion kit allowing it to accept and fire .38 long RF (Rimfire - or .38 XL RF which is what Canadian old dominion called it - with an all copper rimfire case at first than a brass case towards the end of production)

    Uberti did not go forward and manufacture the conversion kit set up for to lack of interest and lack of availability of the rimfire ammo / cost of the ammo. At the time only 2 companies were manufacturing the RF ammo - fiocchi of Europe only and a south American company that was exporting .32.RF and .41 RF (standard or "short" only)

    I have several boxes each of the .32 and the .41 rimfire ammo and at the time we were selling it in the gunshop. We also carried the 9mm rimfire garden gun ammo from fiocchi...

    I have approx 100 rounds of mixed / assorted .38 rimfire ammo still set aside - most of it the all copper Canadian old dominion that is from the 1960's I think...

    I have a supply of .38 long colt double end target wadcutters on starling brass set aside (custom hand loads) and some lead round nose cowboy action style handloads...

    I also enjoy the ammo compatibility / interchangeable ammo ability in a firearm - always have.

    These are nice and you can get them for under $800

    Pedersoli and Uberti both make them, probably Taylors too. I am sure they are all turned out by the same factory just differences in final fit and finish.

    I actually like them better than the Timberwolf because they have a hammer.

    No Problem.

    They have them in several different chamberings 357, 44-40, 45 colt. They also have 3 barrel lengths; 20, 24, 26

    I have an old Rossi Puma in 44 mag that I really like. Its one of the 20" barreled carbines with no stupid safety, very smooth action and it shoot cast bullets great.

    gotta agree with toad, like the lever action, I even hunt with mine now, got it for the grandkids the 38's are about like shooting a 22lr, same with 357 only louder, will kill deer out to about 100 yds, I use it when walking, got red dot on it and makes a good handy rifle if jump up nice buck or coyote........ pump or lever will probubly be about the same price, as I think henry is only one making 357 chambering now in lever, older Marlins are through the roof now........ better get that reloader though, you will go through a lot of ammo plinking, I bet the grandkids put close to 800 rounds of 38's through mine last year............

    Look for an older Rossi in .357Mag. That's what I have and love it. I bought it used and it has a Williams tang sight on it.

    I should say "had" as my daughter has claimed it for herself. She says "you know I shoot it better than you do anyway."

    Lets hope she doesn't apply that logic to all of my guns. Yep, Daddy taught his little girl well.
