I used to be considered Normal

As a man, I used to think I was a regular person, but I was born
white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist &
responsible for slavery.



I am a fiscal & moral conservative, which by today's standards, makes
me a fascist because I plan & support myself.



I went to High School, worked through college, got a degree & have
held a job. I am not here because I earned it, but because I was
advantaged.



I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobe.



I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class & ally
of big business.



I am not a Muslim, which now labels me as an infidel.



I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which makes me a member of the vast
NRA gun lobby.



I am older than 65 & retired, making me a useless old man who doesn't
understand Facebook.



I think & I reason, so I doubt what main stream media tells me, which
must make me a reactionary.



I am proud of my heritage & our inclusive American culture, making me
a xenophobe.



I value my safety & that of my family, & I appreciate the police & the
legal system, making me a right-wing, cop loving extremist.



I believe in hard work, fair play, & fair compensation according to
each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.



I believe our system guarantees freedom of effort - not freedom of
outcome or subsidies which must make me a borderline sociopath.



I believe in the defense & protection of America for & by all
citizens, now making me a militant.



I am proud of our flag, what it stands for, & the many who died to let
it fly, so I stand & salute during our National Anthem, taking me back
where I started - I must be a racist.



Please help me come to terms with the new me because I'm just not sure
who I am anymore!

I thank my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, newfound
changes to my thinking!

I just can't imagine or understand what's happened to me so quickly!
Funny - it all took place over the last 7 or 8 years!

If all this nonsense wasn't enough to deal with, now I don't even know
which restroom to use?

    Me too but thinking about it, I never asked anyone if they considered me normal so maybe I've been a "whack job" for a while. :?

    The Democrats have set a new standard for "normal". Those that used to be living in Sunny Oaks Rest home for the mentality insane are now housed in general population. In order to justify this they changed the definition of normal.

    You are simply the victim of Webster's new Democratic dictionary. :roll:

    Your descriptions do not fit in with the DEMOCRAT party beliefs now days so I had to re-register as a republican and proud of such. :D

    I was raised in a time and place where racism WAS normal and I carry that stigma to this day. I can't put it down. I can drive past the house where the last slaves were kept in this county. Several of my ancestors fought hard on the side of the Confederacy under some pretty gnarly leadership and even though not openly discussed, the family is proud of that(in a historical sort of way). When I was a kid, there was ONE black man living in this county and that was only allowed because he'd saved the life of a politically powerful man living here. Picture that. ONE black "allowed" to live here in the early to mid 60's. Others had better not be caught here after dark.
    Dad had a very close Army buddy who lived in far north east Arkansas and we went there to visit a couple times per year. The blacks were polite and well behaved and the "rules" were well known. A white woman or child was as safe as anywhere and safer than in many all white communities. The blacks "knew their place" and knew the results of violating that unspoken separation.
    Racist, bigot, close minded, you name it but we didn't have any blurring of the lines and all involved "knew their place". Now we're all "equal" and there's constant conflict. I'm not all that sure things are better now.
