Mid Day Bear Encounter -
Have been conversing with my next door neighbor/buddy. He just recently came back from PA. As always, "do you want some free mushrooms?" Portabella's, Shiitake, Criminie, Oystyer, etc. (Well, hell yes.)
He feeds corn, etc, for the Birds, Deer, etc. etc. Bear are prevalent. I just went over to pick up some mushrooms, he warned me a couple bear were around. (Took my .40 [Smith and Weak] with me.) Sure enough two bear (one about 350# the other about 275#,) were just ambling off in the woods when I came back between our two houses. Unusual they were out in mid day. (Perhaps not so much, my buddy puts food out.)
When I bought my .44 Mag SBH yesterday, we were talking about "Mike was going to end up with one in his house at some point."
When I go out in the AM, around 4:30ish, to my vehicle, my head is on a swivel.
Dayumn.

Call the bunny cops and tell them your neighbor is feeding the bears. Let them correct him before someone gets chomped. 0 -
My sister just bought a house on 5 acres in the wooded hills near Eureka, CA. Deer, foxes, raccoons and bats have were all seen on the property when I visited last week. She has game cameras up and there?s a black bear that has been coming almost every night to eat plums and apples off the trees. My kids are staying there with Grandma at her house next door so I?ve warned them not to go outside at night alone or go into the woods alone. At least my liberal sister has a small amount of sense that she has a 12 gauge with buckshot available if needed in the house. The bear is not huge, maybe the size of a Mastiff but big enough to hurt someone if they got too close. 0 -
a fed bear becomes a dead bear. once its used to human/food locations, it becomes dangerous. trapping and relocation doesn't work so that leaves euthanization.. 0 -
Well, next time I step out, I can have my Ruger SBH .44mag revolver on me.
Need a decent holster for it. I may have to check. My Holster for my 1858 Confederate Navy .44 cal. BP, may just fit this beast.

I hope that continues to work out for you both.0 -

Big gun like that you will want a Cross draw or chest holster.
