Pre - Cognitive Thought?
Had a very difficult time of it last night. Went to bed early. (5:30 ish) I have only been getting a few hours sleep per night. It has been bogging me down. Degrading me. I get claustrophobic almost immediately upon laying down. Always feel like I do not get enough Oxygen. (Mitral valve repair in 2005.) Mouth breather. Nose does not work. (Broken multiple times, badly deviated septum.) The CPAP article resonated with me. I need to get a sleep study done.
I have had several incidents of Pre-Cognitive thought in my background. I do not discount it. Kind of like Deja-Vu. You experience exact conversations and events that you have had dreams about before. Events, Etc.
Last night, while having a rough time of it, getting up repeatedly every little bit to walk around, feeling claustraphobic/can't breath etc. Having, as always vivid dreams.
Inocuous dream/thoughts about Elephants being afraid of mice. (WTH?) Amongst a myriad of other thoughts/dreams.
Could not go back to sleep. Woke up around 3:30 am. Finally got up around 4:45am. (Sigh) Went in to the living room, fired up the TV. Series "Weird Wonders," was on. Never watched it before. Pretty interesting.
About 3/4 through the first episode, (multiple back to back episodes, that I watched.) They started discusing the issue of Elephants being afraid of mice. (Holy Sheeit.) How obscure is that? I started to relive my dream, with almost word for word/accompanied by visual references/images from my dream.
Was a very freaky experience.
I have also seen/experienced (in slow motion) an accident I was to have on my motorcycle, about 5 minutes before it happened, back in about 1982. Very freaky. Still Haunts me to this day.
Those are only two of multiple events in my life. Sometimes the re-living an obscure day to day happening/conversation word for word from a prior dream, is very freaky.
Anyone else ever experience this phenomenon?

Without going into detail, I will say that I know exactly where you are coming from. 0 -
As above,,but it hasn't been as frequent since I take one kind of drug for anxiety seems to have quelled it. Sounds like you have some meds that IMO ,assist in that kind of state of nightmares, dreams, ect. if you get the meaning. Have you been prescribed something new or differnet lately? .Possible cause but I only play a doctor with the Mrs. sometimes. 0 -

I have had this "Dream sequence" of seemingly obscure/innocuous events, only to be re-lived later on in real life, my whole life. Episode upon episode upon episode. Not a recent occurrence, by any means.0 -
many times. the first one, I was 5 years old. had a dream about these kids lined up in a row looking at me. remembered the clothes they were wearing, including which ones had jeans and the color of their shirts, and one had a striped t-shirt.
next day I went far away to the other end of the neighborhood, and some kids I never seen before were playing hide-and-seek. they said I can join and you're it. they lined up in a row in front of me before closing my eyes...
same exact kids, wearing the same exact clothes.0 -

(And) Most always, it is the most inane events/conversations. You do not even realize, until it is happening, that you have experienced this before.
Other times, like living in slow motion, (on my motorcycle at the time,) the accident that was going to happen in about 5 minutes time. (Old Lady, running a stop sign to my left, on a sharp right hand curve Rt. 91N, just N of Damascus, VA.) [Home to see my Girlfriend, down from Stite R/Raven Rock, while in the Army, in about 1982.] Not on leave.
. (Potentially screwed.) Showed up to formation Monday morning, with serious Road Rash. Dripping blood.
A road I commute every single day, for the last five years. (Another freaky occurrence.)0 -

There was a stretch of road I drove every working day on my motorcycle, two lanes banked high-speed road, right-hand sweeping curve, I usually took it at around 135 MPH sometimes a little quicker. One day I got a vivid mental picture of a tire laying in the fast lane, I don't daydream while driving a motorcycle. I slowed down, came around the curve and a tire was laying in the fast lane. I actually parked my motorcycle, ran out into the fast lane and rolled/tossed the tire into the verge.
Went to an airshow in a group, motorcycle riders with the women and kids following in a couple of cars, When get there everybody wants to run down and get as close as possible to the action. I decided to park on a hill maybe a quarter mile away, actually a better view of the airshow than being down in the crowd. The others all wanted to go down as close as they could get. I eventually prevailed, we'd brought picnic stuff with us and plenty of drinks. no real reason to go to the concession stands and fight the crowd. Once I actually walked down the hill aways and hit a wall, I felt like I was trying to walk through molasses, turned around and went back up the hill. Two Italian Jets collided and spewed the crowd with burning fuel and wreckage. Near seventy people killed and five hundred injured.
I personally think our extrasensory perception is buried somewhere near the imagination part of our brain. And it is still in process of development, imperfect, often ignored, not really reliable and underdeveloped in some people. I can't call it up at will, sometimes it is so strong I can't ignore it. Maybe it has always been there throughout the evolution of mankind and is being slowly lost?0 -

Thank you for your post and insight Sir.
I believe some people are more attuned/peceptive to this phenomenon, than others.
Some simply do not believe.
I personally have experienced it many more times in my life, (enough so,) that would never discount its existence.0 -

Thanks Chris. That "Little Voice," has served me well over the years, Sir.
Glad it has you, as well.
You just have to listen.0 -
I have also had such experiences, but never from dreams while I was asleep. Mine have always happened while awake, just before something that my inner perception caught.
Many years ago, I was headed to work and found myself first in line, stopped at a red light. I was running a bit late and had my foot ready to stomp on the gas as soon as the light changed. Then, I suddenly felt this strange feeling come over me. Like an invisible hand gripping my shoulder. The light turns green, yet I linger. A car behind me gives me the long horn, yet I linger.
Suddenly, a cement mixer (of all things) goes barreling through the red light at very high speed!
I found myself at that moment kind of like feeling a strange numbing peace all over my entire body. I didn't even care about being late for work. I just slowly crawled thru the intersection and actually made it in, about 5 minutes early!0 -
You have to wonder how the human race survived as hunter-gatherers, especially the youngsters, We can't really outrun any predator, no claws or teeth to speak of, sure we had fire after a while and rudimentary weapons. You really have to wonder how we as a race survived, maybe we had an edge. Maybe it worked better before we got civilized? 0 -

that's what I think if anything. people are domesticated from Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons just as dogs are domesticated from wolves and house cats are domesticated from wildcats. obviously something has been lost, in addition to intelligence and instinct, and more so with Man because our ancestors were superpredators, using mental powers for mapping, plotting, scheming, coordination with others, etc instead of brute power, claws and fangs. seeing what remains with us, we can only imagine what astonishing things they must have been capable of in terms of memory, cunning, awareness and, as we see here, premonition.
compare a dog to a wolf. the dog is laughable. compare a housecat to a bobcat. the housecat is laughable. compare a modern human to a __________. the difference must be laughable, only we don't see how, because we don't have any around and we are clueless about it.0 -

I've also had that numb feeling after an episode or experience I can't logically explain. A similar feeling when there is a nearby lightning strike, kind of numbs me out for hours or days. I function OK, I just feel abnormal, a little unclear and not my normal way of thinking.0 -
Was trying to title this post, Pre-Congnitive thinking.
(But) Spell check was uncooperative. (?)
Perhaps I am incorrect, or "Disirregardless" of the fact, I am pressing on.

I was taking a nap on 911, I woke up screaming at around 3 PM (central European time). I had a dream, I was in hell and everything around me was on fire. Got up, shook the cobwebs out of my brain, turned on the TV and heard about Tower 1.
Coincidence, maybe, maybe I heard the news from a neighbors house in my sleep.
I always thought of the incident as the scream that was heard around the world.
IMO there is something going on that is hard to quantify, maybe even harder to describe. I think some people have been trying to relate the nature of it for a very long time and having trouble communicating the unexplainable.0 -
many stories of Australian aborigines suddenly knowing something was wrong with a relative

O2 deprivation causing hallucination with occasional self prophesizing result. Next comes the universal collective consciousness or (what was that Major Ed's deal?) Remote Viewing (had to think about what it was called on that one). Like a dude that guess your weight at the carnival who gets it right sometimes.
I'm one of those folks that don't get to see dead people. Boring.0 -

An over simplistic response to the idea/thread. (Thanks? )
How does that explain the almost word for word re-play of what I dreamed, & what transpired on the TV the next day? Oxygen deprivation? While dreaming the event, I was wondering WTH? (How weird.) When I watched the sequence the next morning, it got my attention. Completely.
As has been posted to this thread multiple times, some people get it, others do not.
Apparently, you have never had a pre-cognitive event.

I was sitting in a shooting tower and watching a planted field the Deer had been raiding hard. There was only a view in three directions the tower was backed up against the woods. Something made me look over my right shoulder through some branches, very limited view. And there was a Buck 50 yards off licking a bush as they do sometimes to mark their territory. I later wondered what made me look in that direction, it was unnatural. I was sitting on a bench, I had to turn around so far it was almost painful. I make it a point not to turn my head any more than necessary when hunting, Game picks up motion well. Maybe I subconsciously heard something, though my hearing isn't really very good. Maybe my antenna was up and I just sensed that Deer. That isn't the only time I surprised myself knowing where to look before I consciously saw anything.yoshmyster wrote:O2 deprivation causing hallucination with occasional self prophesizing result. I noticed a long time ago daily living, esp?ecially in a city, numbs your senses. Sensory overload, you have to filter out some of the input.0 -
You?ve probably had more close calls than I have but I sure agree with the sentiment. ChrisStreett wrote:Trust that ?little voice? inside of you Ken. Mine has kept me alive many times over the years.0 -
I?ve never had the kind of experiences you are talking about but I did have one ?out of body? experience that wasn?t very interesting but it was enough to convince me that this kind of stuff is possible.
It was about 1975. I had a black mole on my belt line that a doctor thought was about to turn into a melanoma type cancer so he suggested I get it removed before that happened. It was a simple ?slice it off? type deal, but since it was a surgery it had to be done in a hospital.
After the surgeon had the mole out and the hole plugged up he noticed a cyst on the back of my neck. He said if I wanted him to he would slice that off too for no additional charge since he already had me spread out on the table. I told him to go ahead.
He stuck a needle in my neck and shot me full of something. I told him I felt funny. Then I felt myself drifting away. Then I was lying in the same position on my stomach but I was on top of the lights in the operating room. I was looking down at the surgeon and a panicked nurse trying to wake me up. The first thing I noticed was how large the lights were and they were as hot as the hinges of hell. The nurse was breaking ampoules of ammonia in front of my nose and it irritated the hell out of me. I heard myself screaming at her to stop breaking those damn things. The surgeon told her he thought she could back off now. He asked me if I was OK. I was back on the table and told him I thought so. I asked him what happened and he said I had a bad reaction to something or other.
I saw and heard everything that happened including me lying on the table. I didn?t want them to know I was insane so I didn?t mention it. I did look at the lights and they were exactly as I had seen them.
As I said, nothing dramatic or interesting happened but it impressed the hell out of me. Nothing like that ever happened before or since.0 -
it would be interesting to find out if such a phenomenon was simply a case of "the mind's eye" drifting to a different viewpoint, or, was there some detail you saw that you didn't see earlier and could only have seen from above, like something on top of the nurse's head, something on top of medical equipment, wiring on the back of the lights, etc 0 -
I must be closer to "the animal" than many/most. Many, many times the feeling of "go that way" or "look over there" has resulted in hunting success. In dealing with humans, I often know their response to my questions before it's spoken. With animals, it's like they already know who's the alpha w/o me speaking.
As a "man hunter" in the old days, the "knack" for finding the target was easily polished. I'm pretty much a "catch and release" man hunter these days but frequently there's just a hint of "you can find so and so at home, the cafe, or some obscure location" and more often than not, it is correct.0 -

I've had Pre-Cognitive events, my whole life. Way before I had Sleep Issues.
Seeing something happen beforehand, or recognizing a conversation/event that has previously taken place - is not regulated to "Sleep Apnea," issues.
Obviously, Your View May Differ. (YVMD)
