1.5 million Fords defective
Just saw in the Detroit Free Press that 2010 & 2011 Ford Focus and Fiesta models were sold with a defective transmission and Ford has been trying to cover it up ever since. The development was during the recession and maybe they were cash strapped and couldn't remedy the problem before selling the vehicles. Not exactly the most responsible thing to do. I thought they were the good guys when they didn't need bailout funds. Instead they cut corners and sold the public a dangerous piece of crap. Bob

I thought all Fords were defective. I get confused some of their trucks blow spark plugs out of their heads and some the plugs break off when you try to change them but I?m not sure how to tell the difference. 0 -
way back in my younger days brand loyalty was a given my dad uncles all were Ford my fist several cars were fords . mustang ( 65 66 71 ) a 69 cobra farlane than I bought my first chevy . ( still have it a 69 BB camaro ) you would have thought I had commited the worst sin ever buying a chevy :shock: :shock: :shock:
any way all have ther issues and most all are on a level playing field they all look like cookie cutter with a few trim and lights changed
as for what Ricci said my son tells me Ford trucks ( do not recal the engine ) the dealership charges head changes / replacements with plug changes as the plugs lock in break off strip the heads when you try to change them
but for the most part any one will go the 300k miles I remember 60 K they were smoking burning oil more than gas at 100K were being driven to the junk yard0 -
Not participating in the bail out was a business decision, not a good guy decision. Their marketing department turned it into we"re a good guy....it's about the bottom line, that's why they exist. 0 -

EXACTLY
I've had 3 Ford pickups (1974 F100, 1976 F-250, 1994 F150). Each had significant problems ranging from inadequate front/rear wheel bearing specs to inadequate cooling to blown head gasket(s) to dismal fuel consumption to literally "one off" parts fitment.
NEVER going back. Heck I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Ford.0 -
My grandsons wife has a Focus that she bought new a couple of years ago. The transmission is crap and the dealer says they won't fix it even though it's still under warranty.
Two independent shops told her the transmission was crap.0 -
We bought a used 2013 Fiesta with approx. 18000 miles in 2015 (we now have approx.33000) because it could be towed behind our RV (BIG MISTAKE)!! It shutters when leaving a stop, when shifting it sounds like a can of gravel under the hood one time pulling onto the highway it just went into neutral in the middle of the oncoming lane. Fords answer was the shuttering and gravel sound was normal!!! They couldn?t find a problem for the neutral problem (computer didn?t show any problem). I will say it runs great once you into top gear. The first 6 months we had it spent most of the time at the Ford dealer for various problems none of which were solved.
To pre answer the trade it questions
1. All the dealers know about the problem, you almost have to pay them.
2. Having installed a $1000 tow package
3. It?s the wife?s car and she only drives it to the store, rest of the time it sits in the garage.
4. Its paid for!!

Ford is no worse than the others. Hell, they all have had major issues that were slow to be acknowledged and fixed. VW, Takata air bags, gas tank ruptures, Toyota throttles just to name a few off the top of my head. 0 -

My fingers were faster than my brain. It should have read 2010 & 2011 Ford Focus and Fiesta models were INTRODUCED with a defective transmission.. The defective transmissions were installed for many years during the production of these models. Bob0 -
google ford dual clutch transmission. designed by Getrag. basically uses two three speed transmissions and two sets of clutch plates. one set is for gears 1,3,5 the other is for gears 2,4,6. not a true automatic but a manual trans that shifts automatically. problems, problems, and more problems. 0 -

As much as I hate to say it....in a case like that she needs to lawyer up, make Ford repair with a new tranny & a warranty on that one too and her legal expense, letting them get off the hook just puts everybody else in the ripped off column. The dealership doesn't have the power to decide/dictate what Ford does, that's the Judges job. Most times just a letter from a hungry young lawyer to both Ford and the dealership will make positive things happen.0 -
More Fords are on the road than any other vehicle, they could not make it home. 0
