C&R Type 03 FFL Shipping Question

This has never happened before, to me anyway.

Buyer with Type 03 FFL bought a gun that is C&R eligible. He sent payment and a copy of his license.

However, this buyer sent along a business card and asked me to ship to his business address, rather than his premises address.

I know the C&R people aren't as tightly scrutinized as dealers, but would not comply with his request, and I shipped to the license address.

Right or wrong?

    I haven?t researched the ?law? but I?ll only ship to the address on the license. To me, just seems safer, regardless of what the regs say.

    I would say "right".

    I can never be sure that someone will be at my home to receive a shipment, but I have always been able to pick it up from the carrier, or have a re-delivery attempt when I am sure that I will be home. You shouldn't have to worry about whether or not something that you do is legal.

    OTOH, I would never ship to a C&R licensee unless his 03 information agrees with the photocopy of his drivers license or military ID.

    And, I would never ship a firearm to anyone unless it was insured & "adult signature required".

    Only dealers can have firearms delivered to locations other than their licensed premises. You have to ship the firearm to the location specified on the Type 03 FFL.

    It has been my experience, with UPS, it is substantially cheaper to ship to a business address.
    so I prefer to ship to the UPS office nearest the buyer where they can pick it up (and sign for it) at their convenience.

    Shipping to his "business" serves the same purpose.

    I have been an O3 license holder since 1976. As usual, Mark C. is right on. While it would be much more convenient for me to have a shipped firearm delivered to the mail room at my office, it has to go to the address on my license- which is my home.
