Im real excited- can?t wait! Finally getting RO
Im in in a spot in life where I choose to watch my 3 boys do whatever they are into and I am shooting less than my glory days.
Soccer, baseball- play with hot wheels, whatever. My boys are cool!
I don?t get to shoot as much as I?d like they are a little too young to be attending or shooting matches just to watch Dad.
So I only get to shoot around 1,000 rounds a month- a trade off I do not complain about.
I finally have the opportunity to take the USPSA/Steel/3 gun RO course.
Of course this is 2 days long in South Florida.
So to make it a family event we are going island hopping in the Florida Keys. 2 days in Key Largo- where I will drive up to Homestead FL for the RO course, then 4 days in Marathon key where we will enjoy a little vacation together.
I feel like the RO cert is almost a bucket list thing for me and I really enjoy helping new shooters learn and improve so I think it adds some credence to my ability to help new shooters.
So 2 weeks from now the family gets a little vacation and I get to do something that I hope will help me give back to
the sport I enjoy.
Any certified RO?s out there?
Any words of wisdom?

I'm an IDPA certified Safety Officer (SO). It can be rewarding, it can also be a lot of extra work!
At our club myself and one of the other SO's usually take the new shooters aside before a match and run them through the process so that when the time comes to actually step to the line they aren't completely clueless! Of course our basic mantra is 'safety, Safety, SAFETY!' We stress the 180 rule, trigger finger, and muzzle awareness.
You have to be fair but firm, NO exceptions!
We had one fella that just couldn't seem to understand the 180 rule. The first time I saw his muzzle pointed towards the gallery he got a DQ, as would be expected. After the second time (do you realize how big a .45 muzzle looks when it's just a few feet from your chest???!!!) he was dis-invited from any future matches.
