CDNN ammo liquidation
just received an e mail from CDNN Sports that they are liquidating "ALL" ammo . with United Sporting Companies closing the doors and now CDNN , is this a sign of the times ?

That's what CDNN does they buy out distressed Distributors, and dealers. They specialize in Closeouts.
Several Manufacturer have sold out Complete lines of goods to them, when the won't move thru distributors.
Close outs on Knifes, holsters, ammo scopes, and then they will buy more cheaply and start over on the same items
They Recently Bought out some Sig Sauer items from the importer, who were changing over to new firearms. Remington was in trouble and they have been selling Remington Products below dealer cost.
I did a large purchase of items from Jerry's (Elliot Bros), mostly magazines and optic items that will move quickly. What the have left is no longer a deal for dealers. I expect to see another mark down in the days- weeks to come. Some or most may end up at CDNN.0 -
Savage Got sold, from Vista Outdoors. To a financial buyer, Long Range Acquisition LLC out of Irvine CA, $ 170 Million
Wouldn't be surprised if there was a dump on the market to get rid of extra firearms and accessories in the next few weeks. So these folks could start off fresh.0 -

During my gunshop days CDNN was one of my favorite vendors - I loved the dealer catalogs and mailers - they had great customer service...
One of the sales girls was always super helpful and her husband worked in the warehouse - he would make up lists of one off items or super limited items or plain oddball stuff for her "good customers"...
That catalog was a huge part of my life for approx 20 years.
We bought and sold tons of closeout or weird variant items from them.
I probably have 20+ firearms that came through them back in the day.
I remember buying a pallet of mixed Eley .22 rimfire ammo from them - discontinued stuff and limited specialty stuff and stuff that had not sold and the new packaging was coming out so it needed a push to clear it out...
There was specialty rabbit hunting ammo and running game ammo and hollowpoint match shorts and black label and club ( yellow and orange and blue and green and white tops / lids - every color of the rainbow) - biathlon ammo - law enforcement training ammo - military training ammo - stuff that you would never see anywhere...
I still have a bunch of it in small lots...
They had the Czech .22 long rifle match ammo that came in a light green wooden crate containing 5500 rounds (all 50 round boxes)
You could get a 1 gallon or 3 gallon container of loose packed .22 long rifle ammo and there was even a 5 gallon size - private label / your own house brand with serial box design options
I think you had to buy a rail car load as a minimum qualifying order and I so wanted the shop to order one rail car full...
If I remember right with delivery charges included standard velocity lead round nose you would pay less than $1.00 per 50 rounds (on average if you did the math)
The idea was to sell these loose bulk packs to shooting clubs or shooting ranges or fraternal organizations like the scouts or 4H or to schools with shooting teams or to law enforcement agencies...
I wanted the deal so bad - I had designed to box and the logo and selected 3 colors (red white and blue) and we were going to do a split order...
1/2 .22 long rifle standard velocity lead round nose and 1/2 .22 long rifle hyper velocity copper jacketed truncated hollow points...
Unfortunately at the same time good old dangerous Dave was selling off OWS and getting out of the game (I think Val bought it I initially)...
We were very close friends with Dave - we visited him once a year and played poker and took the family out to dinner and hit some of the local bars...
Before he sold out and before he signed any paperwork on the sale of the old western scrounger business lock stock and bbl - ammo and dies and tools he put together a big deal for us and super low prices - on some ammo that he had not done a production run in awhile...
In the kitschy colored ammo boxes (carcano ammo having spaghetti and meatballs for art work - Dutch revolver ammo with wooden shoes motif - SMLE ammo for India with pigs dressed up as Sepoy's)
He maintained a list of the guns my father and I owned - and when he was working on a new load or a new clambering and we had a gun that used the cartridge he would send me samples and require a range report and evaluation of the ammo
He would call and ask what odd guns we had in inventory and would do a similar deal - we had an Italian semiautomatic pistol chambered in 9mm Glisenti for sale and he sent 2 boxes to me for testing (I later bought that gun)
Great days and great men - I wish that were still here and still kicking - iconoclastic gentlemen...
Wally and his wonderful Wally Wipes at all the shows pushing his product - sometimes he did not even have a table...
The north American fiocchi rep was a great guy - 28 gauge paper hulled high brass slugs or 16 gauge high brass paper hulled buckshot...
Heck he even tracked down 200 rounds of 9mm AUPO in its sealed original packaging for a customer of mine - 9mm rimfire metal base paper hull Gardner gun ammo - that 12 gauge plastic hull ammo with the rhinoceros logo..
