stupid idea #4,035,864
barrel gets hot. slap on a heat sink.

don't need tall sights, use the copper tubes for aiming.
bonus: you don't have to bring it up to eye level. extra comfort.

Works better if you hold it sideways, gangsta style. 0 -

then the heat would fall out of the trap........0 -
It would work a lot better with a fan attached. Maybe a thermostat to control the fan could be added. Don't want to set your holster on fire.

new batteries we have now are smaller and would run the cooling fans longer, plus power a gigawatt laser and a really brite LED lite....WIN--WIN 0 -
probably would, but it might not need it. those heat sinks are designed to dissipate 100-300 watts of heat energy, with a fan, but if it can eliminate the heat from 1 shot every time the slide is cycled it approaches 100% efficiency and can operate passively. 0 -
Do those things fire enough rounds to get hot ? :P 0 -
That would create a mirage.. somewhat at like WTH is that? 0 -
a mirage.....i dream of Genie...?????? 0 -
sometimes they make it through a box of 100 before they blow up, yesmnrivrat48 wrote:Do those things fire enough rounds to get hot ? :P0 -
HAHA!
Actually, like said above, holding it gangster style would help with passive thermal dissipation since the plates are vertical. That is a nice heatsink. Looks like the type from previous higher end Dell systems like the Precision line.
Off topic:
I have done a lot with PC and liquid cooling. I experimented with phase change (sub ambient) some but mostly have used various all in ones or full custom multi loop systems and also did one system submerged in mineral oil. There is a guy from somewhere in Europe I think that built his entire case from scratch to be a passive water cooling system. Only cooling function run by electricity was the pump. After a bit of searching, I finally found it. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?259588-Project-Hush!-A-scratch-built-passive-radiator-case&s=29a5d29714564bd0d0f6871c548e8f08
Man, I just realized almost all my posts today have barely hit the original posts. LOL0 -
Wait! Isn't that the firearm half of the California-approved Smart Gun System??? 0 -
