Went to the Gunshow neat 410 ATI SX O/U

They had a gunshow in Raleigh this weekend. 30 mile drive and $10 to get in. I should have stayed home :(

Super high prices not much there that was interesting at least to me.

I saw one thing I really liked. I want another 410 and have been looking for a Winchester M37 but have not been able to find one at a price I want to pay. So I see a O/U 410 turkish made by ATI. It looks nice and has screw in chokes and ejectors. I ask to see it and it feels good in the hand. The guy wants $800 for it :shock:

Its nice but not that nice and I really don't want to lowball him too much so I put it down and walk away. I get home and look it up(I didn't know what they sell for) and I see they go for under $500 all day long :o

They have good reviews and I may look at getting one either on GB or just order it if I can get it cheaper.

    Savage also sells an O/U make in Turkey that, IIRC, has chrome lined bores in the $500-525 range. Lots of shotguns made in Turkey, some okay and some not. I haven't owned one of these Savage O/U but reviews are good. I've thought of getting one on 28ga.

    Edit: I looked at the link you posted. I see that it is also chrome lined etc., looks good. BTW, I've been done with gun shows for quite awhile. No real value anymore. High entrance fees and higher prices inside. I am sure there are some good ones worth a man's time, but they do not seems to come to my area.

    Scout5 That is my impression on gunshows too. I swore them off last year but I really do enjoy going its I get tired of the high prices, AR stuff, beef jerkey and polishing compounds.

    I want to see old wood and steel guns.

    Back to the ATL 410 it looks nice. The only reason I really want one is I have a boatload of 410 ammo. Most was my Dads and a lot came from a friend of mine who passed away and his wife told me to take all the ammo and reloading stuff. I did and sold it and I gave her the money. She said she didn't want it and that her husband wanted me to have the stuff. I told her I kept what I needed or was sentimental the rest I sold and for her to take the money(It was a few grand) and put it toward their kids college fund.

    Now I have about 3000 rds +/- of various 410 ammo and no gun, most of the ammo is 2.5" #8 but there is a boat load of 3" #6 :shock:

    If I had 3000 rounds on ammo I'd be looking for a gun too. I have 3 single shot .410's, loads of fun.

    The ammo is old but its been stored in 30mm Ammo Cans. I was thinking of selling it but selling it online is a pain and I am done selling stuff on Clist, too many Daisys and wafflers.

    I was going to put some up for sale at the trap and skeet range but the guys who shoot 410 are picky about their ammo.

    You know the sad thing is I thought I has a SS 410 and looked all over for it. Then I remembered I gave it to a kid and sold my 2 other 410's :o

    one of the first guns I bought my grandson was a 28ga remington model SPR 210 SxS. it is turkish made, guy at gunshow had a table full of them all different gauges, only thing is I now wish I had gotten the over and under , think it was a model 310, instead of side by side, they were all the same price $300, looking back I should have gotten a few more, but money was tight back then, almost 14 years now........

    Sam, the ATI is probably the better buy as it has ejectors. I think the Savage just has extractors.

    I ran across it yesterday and should have bought it. However, there is a fellow near you in Raleigh who has one on GB right now, but he wants $699.00 for it, but if it is in fact all original you might want to go see it and make an offer for it. It looks to me to have some freckling in the bluing and not as nice as the one that sold on GB yesterday. The wood also looks to be a very light color which would suggest a refinish, but these issues might very well be due to lighting. If you are not familiar with the 41, they fie a 2 and 1/2 inch shell...which as you would know won't reach out as far the 3 inch, but they are truly hard to find in the collectible condition as advertised. Great small game gun!!!!

    My opinion is hold out for an older 410.
    Even 8f you have to pay a little more, like the 41 Kimi posted, or even the Steven's version.
    Or yet, pony up and buy a quality 410.
    Stevens/Savage made an O/U 410 with split hammers years ago. Like the Model 24 22/410. But both 410 barrels. Twice the dough plus but twice plus the gun is the Citori, and the Steven's 311 410 can get a little pricey.
    I personally am not impressed with any of the Turkish stuff.

    Two very important lessons I learned at great cost about shotguns. TANSTAAFL and you get what you pay for. Spend a few bucks more and save the grief. Bob
