Concealed Carry ?
I know most people here are for unlimited concealed carry. I am on the fence about that.
I believe they should be able to carry concealed with no problem but that they should have to pass some safety test.
I have a friend that has shot holes in his house 3 different times from unloaded guns. He was in the Army infantry for 4 years.
I told him point blank if you take your gun out around me i will pull my gun out and if the barrell ever comes toward me i will shoot him dead. He knows me and i have not seen his gun again.
I would not let him borrow a bow.
I saw someone open carrying the other day and he was about 140 pounds wet and the way he carried himself he should not have been toting a gun. He had no situation awareness.
I got close enough to take the gun from his holster with no problem.

So - how do you suggest fixing that?
Take his guns away?
Force him to take training?
Warn all your / his friends to avoid him?
Your post talks about CC. But the problems you?re stating are irrelevant to CC or OC...
I?m not arguing or calling you out so please don?t take offense. Just pointing out that a training requirement might help. We ALL see stupid owners. So far everyone screams about infringement but no one has an answer for preventing ignorant choices and actions.0 -

Who decides the criteria for 'passing a safety test'?
Who does the testing?
Who evaluates the results?
Is there a demonstrated danger from people who concealed carry absent a safety test requirement? I have not heard of one.
Simply knowing a person with whom you may be uncomfortable when that person is in possession of a firearm is insufficient to impose extra-constitutional burdens upon the rest of the American citizenry.0 -
You can get a marriage license and there is no test. Before you advocate restricting my rights to carry, focus on the root problem, over breeding and then not properly raising that offspring. 0 -
I worry a lot more about drunk drivers than I do careless people with guns. And people texting is right up there with drunk drivers. 0 -

See the quote marks?
It does not say "The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, except for training, background checks and permits approved by government beaurecrats."
If a citizen is not responsible enough to obtain training and education on his/her own, we have many laws already in place, ranging from Murder to Reckless Endangerment to brandishment to deal with these problems.
If you demostrate to the traffic court judge that you lack driving abilites you will find yourself in a trafffic class. I'm convinced this will work with guns.
BTW, driving is a privlege while RKBA is a right.

If you were that close to him, and that confident in your ability, then why didn't you attempt to take it from him? If it was no problem for you, it should've been easy enough. As far as they way he carried himself, if that's all it takes for you to pass judgement on who should be able to carry a gun, and expect mandatory training to carry a gun, I pray you never end up on a jury, and never take up politics. Sounds to me like you have an extremely short fuse.0 -
exactly! ask somebody why they can make you take a test in order to get your drivers license, which they can take away at any time. "because driving is a privilege! of course!" then ask why they can make you take a test to get your CCW, which they can take away at any time. Every state requires one take a driving test before getting issued a drivers license.
What good has it done?
Odds are nearly everyone here and most everyone you know has been in an vehicle wreck. (They are wrecks, not accidents)
There are millions of fools on the roadway that don't follow the regulations or safe driving practices.
Something like 40,000 people are killed in vehicle wrecks annually and that's less than people killed by licensed firearm owners, test or no test.
Remember, Doctors have years of education and are tested but Doctors kill more people every year than firearms!
