Sucks.
My daughter wants her son to play football this year and he does not want to and she is bugging him.
I told him point blank do what makes you happy. I personally loved football and baseball i told him but that is me. Everybody is not the same.
He went from being the best defensive player in the 8th grade and 2nd or 3rd best player on the team. To not playing at all but thats his decision.
She is now mad because i did not take her side and talk him into playing.
My knees have been replaced at 51. My left shoulder and elbow always hurts from hitting people with them in football or throwing a ball. Im left handed.
Once in a while i wish i never seen a ball but i love my memories so that does not last long. LOL
I hate to see the kid waste some good talent i have taught him well but if he is done he is done. Let it be.

I didn?t let my son play HS football specifically because I didn?t want to risk him getting hurt doing something that wasn?t going to advance his career. Sure, he?d have learned a little teamwork. But that wouldn?t make up for a screwed up pair of knees... 0 -
Sports injuries are a big buck industry for the health profession.
That did not occur because sports are a 'safe' thing to do.
NO ONE should be pushed or persuaded to play school sports.
It is strictly a personal decision ~ like don't tell me what to do with my body (the pro-abortionists use that one).
The news media and schools pay homage to sports more than then any other endeavor. :twisted:0 -
What I learned from dealing with my son and sports.......
They want to quit playing at about the same time you NEED them to be occupied doing anything to keep them out of trouble. If she wants him to play and he doesn't want to....its not good to MAKE him play, but I'd tell him he has to fill that time with something else, band, a job, but he had to play unless that happened.0 -
That?s good advice I?ll keep in my back pocket for a few years down the road. Locust Fork wrote:What I learned from dealing with my son and sports.......
