    Thats a treasure! I loved my old Jeeps. I also had several Overlands , but the new ones just arent the same. Seem like cheap junk, compared to my old ones. I hope they start making them so you dont have to repair something every other day. They are proud of them the way they got them priced.

    Last summer, gave a beautifully restored NAVY jeep a tow. Early WW2 production-Used my f-150 and some half inch nylon to move him a half mile down the road from where he had stopped- Seems the one thing the early models did not have was a gas gauge! Got him in to the gas station, topped off, got him back on the road.

    I had one like that only on mine the gauge didn't work. I kept a stick with increments in Gal on it. I would check my tank with the stick, it right under the drivers seat :shock:

    There must be an echo in here. :lol: My CJ3A was the same. Gauge didn't work, and the man I bought it from had an old hacksaw blade under the seat. One mark on it, about an inch from the end. He told me that once it got down to that mark, start looking for a gas station. Worked great.:D

    The old genuine jeep and the jeep of today are not the same.

    Last summer I traded in, and washed my hands of, my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. It was a POS even tho it would out-4WD every vehicle I have ever owned.

    Just like owning a sailboat - work on it all week in hopes of using it on the weekend.

    Friend of mine has an original Jeep trailer... He uses it every day in his work. Twas full of roofing Tar when he first got it. To get the tar out he pulled in the middle of his field. Took the wheels and tires off and BURNED the whole thing.. Says he has the only Heat Treated trailer in town :shock:
