Was the Winchester 1873 lever action rifle ever chambered in 38/55?

  I'm not Bert, but the answer is no. The action is not nearly long enough.
  
  The first Winchester that would accept a .38-55 Ballard was the 1885 Highwall, the first repeater the 1894.
