Gas taxs go up in a few states

Here is the list:

Here?s a look at some states where taxes are rising beginning next month:

California

The gas tax in California will rise 5.6 cents per gallon, to 47.3 cents per gallon from 41.7 cents.

As of Friday, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in California was $3.74.

The increase is part of legislation that was passed in April 2017. There was an attempt to repeal the hike last year, but it failed.

Ohio

The gas tax in Ohio is set to increase by 10.5 cents as of Monday.

The hike was approved in April.

The average price of gasoline in Ohio is $2.67 per gallon.

Illinois

The fuel tax in Illinois is set to double, increasing to 38 cents from 19 cents per gallon.

As of Friday, the average gas price in Illinois was $2.89 per gallon.

South Carolina

A much more modest gas tax increase will affect drivers in South Carolina, a two-cent per gallon hike.

The average price of gasoline in South Carolina is about $2.35 per gallon.

Tennessee

In Tennessee, a modest 1 cent per gallon increase will take effect soon.

As of 2017, the state?s gas tax was 21.4 cents per gallon. The budget plan will, overall, increase that tax by 6 cents per gallon.

As of Friday, the price of gasoline was $2.40 per gallon.

    YES SIR, Illinois and "the new progressive state" has started the biggest snowball to ever roll down a mountain and it is not stopping until ??? J.B. Bitchster has now leveled a "tax emporium" on the residents that work and actually have to drive. License, alcohol, property tax, cig tax, vape tax, mary j tax, FFL STATE requirements that supersede the Fed level at a cost of 1500 per two years. Actually having to REGISTER a firearm that you are buying after July 16, and why you are buying it. Goes to a state computer. Hmm, what could go wrong.

    Needed gas yesterday and pulled into a Chevron. Regular was $ 3.79.9....bunch of crooks up here. Got two gallons and will go fill up somewhere else today.

    What a relief!

    I was concerned fuel tax went up in Iowa. Then I realized it wasn't an additional tax.

    It was just gas prices going up - again - for no apparent reason.

    The gas tax increase in the Demokratik People's Republik of Kalifornia was a two step process. There was a proposition on the last ballot to cancel the increases. The idiots here actually voted against it. They were promised the money would be used to fix our roads & now we find that there are a myriad of ways they are spending the money that have nothing to do with roads.

    A number of voting cycles back, there were two ballot initiatives we voted on and passed overwhelmingly.
    One was, no new taxes or "fees" unless voted on.
    The other was for all gas and road tax to be separated from any "general fund", be put in a "lock box", and to be used solely for road repair.
    A Calif Republican congressman discovered that Jerry Brown had not only looting the fund, it was millions in the hole. Shortly after this was exposed, Brown signed a bill for the new gas tax. The vanished fund has yet to be accounted for. BTW... Brown just retired to his newly completed multi million dollar mansion.
    Shortly after that, the tax payers got a ballot measure up for vote to repeal the tax. It was clearly written, (unlike most of the Democrap initiatives), so there was no confusion about what your Yes or No vote meant.
    The tax repeal lost by 67%. I can't find anyone in that 67%, and all those I ask, can't either. I find it a little hard to believe, that anyone would vote to double their already high gas prices.
    Keep in mind, Calif uses the Diebold voting machines. They are serviced by the SEIU union, that are the right hand of the Calif Democrap party.
    A 14yr old has a YouTube video showing how easy it is to hack the machine, and cast 200,000 votes in a district that only has 100,000 voters. I've closely watched the election returns on the last 4 elections. When a Republican is in the lead against a Democrap, at the the last minute, the Democrap jumps ahead and wins by 4%. Just a coincidence I guess.

    Yes taxes are much greater than the profit made by the oil companies. Fed gets 18.4 cents on gas and 24.4 on diesel.
    States, counties, and cities add in their taxes as well.

    The irony lies when DEMOCRATs and their sycophants and liars in media attacks big oil companies when they make a meager profit, while government rakes in the dough.

    Government doesn't drill, refine, transport, market, or sell: Government does absolutely nothing and profit tremendously.

    Just as soon as they divert enough of the new gas tax money to pay for it. It is on the list along with jogging trails & bike paths. They have even used the money to REDUCE the number of lanes on some streets so they can add a bike lane. I hope all the people who thought they would get potholes fixed choke.
