No vacation for me this year.
The craziness of a new job in January and the relocation from Dallas to Orlando has been rather bumpy.
Im staying put this summer- so can I live vicariously through some of ya?ll?

Flying from current residence of CA ( 
) to home in southern NH and MA. Spend a week at the Cape and then drive back. This will be about my 20th cross country drive. First one was in a 1967 Mustang convertible (Candy Apple Red, white top) but now it's rental cars. The last few times have been via "I 80" route, stop at a few Cabelas and Brownells. Last stop is Wendover on the UT/NV line, stay at Montego Bay hotel. But my heart's desire route is 95 south to Jacksonville and hang a right through the south on Rte 10. Been a while, my 1st drive had me spending an extra day in Lafayette, LA and their 1st Cajun Music festival - 1979 I think. I may have also had an overnight "relationship" in Uvalde or Houston, it's been a while .....
No phone, no satellite radio. All local including the food. I've learned more about cows and farming, alfalfa growing and farm irrigation than any city boy could imagine. Folks who listen to Sirius and do MapQuest don't know what they're missing.0 -

last time I took a vacation was 2006. before that it was 1998.
when I was working at the flour mill there was one (1) woman working there, looked like she was on work release from prison. we all had 4 days off so she flew down to Jamaica for a vacation and came back in time for work.0 -
I was kinda planning on staying with you in Florida for a couple of weeks. We tend to vacation when school is in. This year family thing in Vegas. I hear there are some interesting things to do around the area, that don't involve the strip.0 -
I got my fence almost handled. My friend from San Diego is coming up and we are going to ride ATVs to high altitude lakes and fish, fish, and fish. 0 -

I would like to do several 3 day weekends on the vineyard between now and Christmas...
Assuming I can continue to make progress and advance my recovery - assuming I can continue my 7 month streak of no visits to the emergency room or rides in an ambulance or involuntary hospital admissions - assuming the doctors give permission and clearance...
Visit Wood's Hole Institute
Visit Nantucket
Visit Martha's Vineyard rod and gun club
Ride the various ferries to and fro the various islands
Visit the New Yankee Workshop
Visit the MV residents dog park and hiking trail set up
Drive the Mass Pike in fall
Visit Lowell
Possibly attend a concourse car show
Visit Wayne Carini's lot and shop / showroom
Visit Limerock
Simple meals cooked on a grill and smoker - with a slow cooker...
Enjoy dinners on the covered porch overlooking a stream and wildlife green acres set aside park with a string of wetland flooded depression grassland and ponds - just packed with a dozen variety of ducks and assorted migratory water fowl...
Home made hand made artisan pizzas - good clear pale ales and pilsners - H. Uppman cigars ( approx ring size 50+) - soft ice cream in cones - sampling local cuisine and tavern fare - New York Times crossword puzzles - a few good sci fi novels - etc...
I know it's not fancy or exotic or high society but it's what I want while I still have the time...

That is what I say. We have events and fairs every week from now until the end of October. We do have a Viking cruise planned for December going from Rome to Barcelona.0 -

not to rub it in , but since I retired everyday is a vacation, seems we take off almost every weekend now and go visit some of my older relatives, just not sure how much longer they or me will be around to visit. son is getting married so next month or two will be busy with shower/wedding stuff. as a kid we allways went to visit relatives in florida, so have seen alot of the south, was out in california in service, saw enough of it for me. I would like to take a few days and go up north, maine, vermont and that area, I think we will wait till late summer for that....
did hear though that bush gardens in virginia was letting veterans and family in for free am going to check into it more, may take grandkids down for day or two....0 -

No vacations plans for us anytime soon. We've got enough stuff going on at home to keep us busy for a while.
My wife and I have just about done it all in our 138 combined years here on Earth. There's not a state in the lower 48 that we've not walked on and driven up and down and across during those years. We've also lived in a good many of the states and visited enough foreign countries to realize how lucky we are to be Americans.
These days sitting on the front porch holding hands in the evenings while being lucky enough to enjoy good health is more than one could ask for. Retirement is better than advertised. And living ones life with their best friend is the best blessing of all.0 -

Will do my friend! That would be great to meet with them and enjoy their company for a few hours!!!!! We'd just love to meet your son and his family! We will be in the lower part of the Hill Country, but if I make it up to the Llano Basin in the northern part, I'll be sure to let you know far enough in advance that we could arrange to meet up. Don't know if we can do that, but I have wanted to go back to those hills for a long time and attempt to visit a certain peak.
That would be great to meet with them and enjoy their company for a few hours!!!!!

Headed to a beachhouse the last week of July, kids and the in-laws. Love waking up, looking out and seeing and hearing the ocean 0 -
I'm going to do a circle tour of Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota late July. Headed from Detroit to Milwaukee to pickup a new racing motor, then it's North to Duluth/Superior WI to see the largest steam locomotive ever built (might try to catch it on the move before it gets to Duluth. Need a co-driver/camera man). Then it's off to Wakefield Mi (in Da UP, eh?) for the APBA Stock OB Nationals where I'll be picking up a new hull. After that, it's East to Marquette to do some long range steel rifle shooting with some friends that are warming up for a Fall hunt in Colorado. (wish me luck getting past Chicago with long guns and a wee bit of 'insurance' in the truck). After the shoot it will be off to Gustafson's for some smoked whitefish and then South home. Not sure, as a retiree, what I'm vacationing from.

Sent the wife and my son off to Pennsylvania to visit one of my daughters. The first day they were gone I got 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I've been Wild Boar hunting every morning since they left, a half hour walk from my house. I'm happy-0 -
