The Jack Reacher Series -
First one was good.
The second one, "Never go Back." Was equally as good.
(Neither were as good as the books.)
Watching the first one, now, (Again.)
Good Stuff.

I didn?t like the movies. I read all the books. They were great! But the movies left me underwhelmed... 0 -

I don't see T Cruise as Reacher.
The books are good though but they get a little too much toward the end of the series.0 -
I actually thought that Cruise played Reacher pretty badly. He and the female lead didn?t do well at all. Predictable and poor acting. But then, I?d read the series and had a vision of Jack Reacher in my mind. And Cruise didn?t come anywhere near.Sam06 wrote:WearyTraveler wrote:I didn?t like the movies. I read all the books. Cruise has given some amazing performances and been featured is some incredible movies...
But when reading the Reacher books I don't imagine the main character being 5'4" tall...
Even surrounding him with short people and wee folk - even having him in lift shoes or standing on a box - even with CGI and other modern computer effects he still has his shortcomings...
Plus he is butterfly net and straight jacket crazy - and a Scientology nut job with delusions of grandeur...

Bought A Jack Reacher book on line from an individual for $2.00?? Sent me a link to download the book. Link was to 27 of the Jack Reacher Novels in e-book format. The best deal I've ever got and thought it was for only one !!.
One file was corrupted but thought it wouldn't be right to ask for a new copy.

I have read several of the books . Have to agree with the other posters . Casting Cruise was a mistake from movie one 0 -
I have read them all and enjoyed them. Jack NMN Reacher is a bad ass. 0 -
The first few were good, then it too way too much suspension of disbelief to keep going, very little relationship with reality. As for Tom Cruise Mopather, Top gun was about his peak. He is about half of Reacher. 0 -
Read all of the books, guess I must like them. Tom Cruise was a poor choice. Going by the books Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson would have been a better choice. Bob 0 -
We listened to a Reacher audiobook on a trip. We both thought it was predictable and unbelievable. But not as bad as casting Cruise as Reacher. 0 -

A buddy o' mine who read the books tells me Dolph Lungrend would've been more from the pages (I think the accent and Frankenstein's monster like movements would've been hard to watch). How ever I would pay money to see "The Rock" with a blond wig

. That there is comic "GOLD".
Also about Tom Cruise. He's the white equivalent of Samuel L. Jackson.
Almost forgot. The trippy bit is the author is a Britt. I was looking for trailers of one of the movies on youtube and came across (I wanna say) an interview of Childs. I'll have to go look.0 -
I think I read somewhere that Cruise bought the movie rights to the books. 0 -
I guess I liked the movies just fine. I don't give a schitt about Tom's religion and more than he cares about mine, and I liked the way he acted in the movies. But then again, I'm not too hard to please. It's a 2 hour mind douche ment for entertainment. Don't try to read into it any more than that. 0 -
Never read any of the books but thought the first Reacher movie was pretty good. Good enough to actually buy a blue ray for my stash. When I borrowed a copy of the 2nd movie from the library, thought it sucked.
For me, movies are strictly for my entertainment. I am what many might call a movie buff. From the very early days of cinema way back in those old b&w days, I have found interest. I used to know more about the golden age and the so called stars than most alive today. I may have forgotten much but still enjoy what I can remember.
I will admit that finding anything made in the present that is worth the time is like panning for gold. The current political agendas has absolutely no place in the true art of the motion picture! That is unless the picture is about the current agenda......at which I will not waste my time.0 -
While I agree that Tom Cruise, does not even come close to meeting the physicality of the Jack Reacher character, (he does however,) do a pretty good job of capturing the character.
Obviously your Views may differ.
The films were enjoyable. (As entertainment.) The books were excellent.0 -
I'm just so happy and proud that you are learning to read. 0
