hard to imagine that soft spoken little guy could/would have done half of what he did. just goes to show you, until you are put in that position you don't know what you will do. he was a hell of a man and a truely real american hero. 0 -

The thing about Audie is he was a Brave SOB for a long time over multiple combat engagements in different theaters.

There was a great 3rd ID Museum in Wurzburg Germany. With many items related to Audie Murphy.
Have to wonder where it all went, when the 3rd Id moved out in late 1999's.
Both wife and I served in the 3rd ID. We both watch it when ever it comes on.0 -
Most of the stuff is in the Ft Benning Infantry Museum but some of it is at the Museum at Ft Stewart Ga where the Div is Headquartered now. 0 -
I frequently tell people this is a movie they need to watch. A decorated war hero playing himself in a movie about what he actually did. 0 -
While I was down I think I watched every movie he did..and then again. Just love the westerns and of course the one mentioned above. 0 -
I got to see the site and museum where he earned the Congressional Medal of Honor in Colmar, France.

busted knee, that memorial is about 20 miles, as the crow flies, from my home.
I am ashamed to say I have never been there, but plan to correct that error in the near future.0 -

I try to visit every year. Its a nice stroll and very humbling to see all the momentos left in Murphy's honor.
