Anyone that has been overseas, question.
I have been stopping a lot at gas stations and food outlets in my job and also as I have been driving a lot this summer. I don't really care if the place is owned or managed by people from overseas be they Indian, Pakistan, Nigeria or the good ole' USA. However, I have noticed a big difference in the cleanliness of these places of business.
I went to Mt. Vernon IN last weekend to get some airplane parts. I had a reservation at the Mt. Vernon Inn. The place was a basically a dump, I did not check in and went to the Four Seasons Motel for a few bucks more and had a spotless room in a well kept establishment. On bathroom or coffee stops the non-US ran establishments were noticeably dirtier, floors and corners are dirty, bathrooms dirtier with poor maintenance in general, the shops seem run down.
Are other countries the crap holes I envision by seeing how they run the establishments I have noted or is it my imagination and just the bad luck of picking the wrong place to pee?
Do these people bring the same lousy housekeeping habits they came from and simply don't know any better???

If You really want to see a crap hole, go to Mexico in a non tourist area... 0 -
They do not become "Third World" by accident. 0 -
Once you leave Europe and the civilized parts of South America, the toilet facilities can be mediocre to terrible. When the toilet is a hole in the floor, it can be a real challenge. 0 -
By their standards their places are extremely clean compared to where they come from, I never stay in a "Red Dot Inn"

Here is what I have learned over the years as a Army brat, a soldier, and a truck driver. These immigrants that come here does not conform to our way of life, thinking, and standards. And they bring in their way of life, thinking and standards plus we must conform to them. So, yes, this is how they live in there country.

We must have a better class of Indians , pathans etc here . There are a bunch of convince store owned and operated by them in Goldsboro . With two exceptions that I know of they are generally cleaner and neater than the USA ran places . Most sell and serve food and invariably have a sanitation grade of A to A plus. As to their home countries I have no idea other than what I learned from National Geographic as a kid 0 -
haven't heard anything good about India. always bad. piles of crap everywhere, bad stench, lots and lots and lots of poor people, they're all screwballs, incompetent government, on and on.
of course immigrants are going to bring their own customs with them. you would too.
Thomas Sowell wrote a book back in the 80's called Ethnic America. it details how the different ethnic groups made significant contributions that shaped our nation as we know it today. Poles, Jews, Italians, Irish, Germans, Blacks, (there's more but those are the principle ethnicities in the book) they all had their own cultures and while they successfully assimilated, the rest of "America" took from them too.
the problem we are having in modern times is that with the exception of Mexicans, the immigrants are no longer coming from Europe and they are not Western. they are less inclined to assimilate and more inclined to hold their own turf, form their own enclaves, and act more like permanent tourists at best or invaders at worst.0 -
I very rarely stay anywhere that is under $100 a night. Sometimes somewhat more over seas. Heck even Paris was much cleaner than I expected. England, Costa Rica, Australia, Israel, and Jordan were very acceptable. Some in the US, run by Patels have seen me moving on down the road. 0 -

There no place in Africa that I have been(17 country's) that was what I would call "Clean" unless it is a tourist attraction. I have found that Eastern Europe and Northern Europe are the cleanest places. 0 -
"Econo Lodge in Petersburg VA is a crack head shithole."
You had me at Petersburg. Entire city is a study in modern failure. Financially city was so bad 2 years ago they could not pay city employees or repair a fire engine or police car.
We have local convenience stores run by Pakistanis and by Sikhs. They are clean with pleasant staff. But we are a rural community- treat your customers like crap, word gets around FAST.0 -
No interest to go overseas. 0
