Email to ask what my email address is.....one of my favs
I get some random silly questions every week that are always questions that the answer is right there if you know where to look.
I get that people don't realize they are given all of my contact information right there on the auction that they won. So, I send out a detailed email to help walk people through how to complete an auction with some added details about how we handle things. That email cuts out a lot of the phone calls and such, but we still get a good many.
When I'm reading "what is your email address" in an email it makes me think of my brother trying to help my mother work on her computer. He was trying to get her to click on the "Start" icon and she reached up and turned the monitor off with the power button.

The struggle is real my brother.
Reading comprehension like listening to a spouse can be a problem for some.
Like the words of wisdom on the milk carton. "Patience is a virtue that must be LEARNED" my caps for emphasis to my own struggle.0 -

I saw a sign the other day...
"WARNING! RAILROAD TRACKS ARE SOMETIMES USED BY TRAINS"0 -
Your email isn't locustfork@xxx.com ? 0 -
I can understand the question. Most companies have different email addresses for different departments.
I would contact you to find out if you only used one email address or several in your operation if I won one of your auctions... who knows you may have an email to ask questions while the auction is being ran, and one to get the information on how you want to finish the auction I want...

At our smallish campground we have 3...one for general info, one for reservations, and one for the office personal.
Most on line auction places don't allow emails to be listed, they go thru the auction website email system. This is to lessen the chance of off site sales.

Yeah, if they were using the built-in GB emailing system it actually replaces your email address so they remain a 'middleman'. This can be used to monitor off-auction sales (purchasing additional stuff without GB's cut), but can also be used in case of a conflict between buyer and seller.
Still, I know where you are coming from. I get incredibly tired of the types of questions like you describe Locust. I am in I.T. and a couple of weeks ago, I sent a very detailed support ticket in. I listed Make, Model, Product, and Serial numbers as well as our paid support number. I also listed everything we had tried up to that point. After a couple of days, the return email asked for all of that and warned that we may be charged for support (though I gave our account info showing we pay already for support). They ended it with "if you have any more questions just let us know". I responded "yes, I have another question. Did you even read anything I sent you because literally everything you asked for was detailed". So, the response was "yes I read it. Would you please try these solutions...". To which I replied "perhaps you did read it, but didn't comprehend it". "Please have your manager call me". I was polite with the manager and I forwarded the email chain which I think he already could see.
Let's just say that they are sending us a new piece of hardware that was out of warranty by over 6 months.
Locust, if you don't mind, I'd like to see what your after-auction email looks like (minus contact info of course). I don't sell all that much, but each time I see something in a post-sale email I like from a seller, I add it to mine. Like you, I just try to avoid additional inquiries.0 -
On a high dollar item I might email the seller with a question before bidding- usually just testing the waters before I commit $$$.
If they don?t communicate before they have my money Im not confident they will communicate after they have my money.
Ive never asked that question.0 -
Along that same line Warbirds, on an occasion, I've asked for additional picture(s), especially from new seller. Sometimes, I don't really even care about what it shows, it is to ensure they really have the item. I mean, we were all new GB member buyer/sellers at one point but this is a decent CYA check. 0 -

This is what I send out the night the auctions end to all of the winning bidders. Before I sent the slew of emails and phone calls asking questions was too numerous to count. I just get a few questions now and a rare phone calls through the week.....
I am sending this email out to all of the winners of my auctions. This is just standard information that will help answer any questions you might have and make things clear so your transaction can proceed as quickly as possible.
***No FFL needed for antiques or non gun items.***
My address is the same as registered on Gun Broker:
(My address)
If you mail payment please make your certified check or money order payable to McKayco and mail it to this address.
We have TWO shipping days......Tuesday and Friday of each week, so your item will go out either of these two days depending on when we receive your payment and FFL. We use your email address when we make the shipping label you will receive an email from USPS.com with your tracking number.
If you pay by credit card you can pay directly on the Gun Broker website by going to the link on your auction that says "proceed to checkout". This will add 4% to your purchase total. If you need to purchase more shipping insurance (for an item that sold for more than $1000) or won more than one item we can process your credit card for you if you call during normal business hours.
If you would like an INVOICE.....you can go to your Gun Broker and in your items won you can print an invoice directly from your Gun Broker.
I need an FFL.....selecting your FFL on Gun Broker does not give me a copy of the license and you will need to contact your dealer and have them send us a copy before I can ship the item. We also ask that your FFL send a copy of their tax ID number unless you live in an area that is exempt from sales tax.
So, I need you to have your FFL send us a copy of their license AND tax ID. They can email it to mckaygunsales@gmail.com or fax it to (205) 693-0104
If you plan to pick your item up please call first and set up a time to do this because we are not a storefront business and we do get called away some times during business hours. We try to keep regular hours from Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm each week.0 -
Thank you Locust, I appreciate it. I like the format. Sure beats the non communication of the seller on my current purchase.
