90 Grey Whales washed up on the West Coast starved to death
On NPR that they're having trouble locating folks with beach front property to let "nature" take it's course on the dead whales. They found only one couple in Washington State to let a whale rot on their beach. I wonder why there weren't more takers? I figure if they have to tow it to a beach with willing folks that will allow one to rot they might as well just take the corpse out to sea and sink them.
Also when will they start offering tags for culling them? At the very least let the tribes take a few without harassing them.
They mentioned the whales were starved to death and found stomach with eel grass. They explained it was like a last ditch attempt from starving to death, like how folks might eat grass to stave off starvation. They didn't say if all the whales had eel grass in their stomach. To me they were just guessing and grasping at eel grass. Wonder which they'll blame "global warming" or "over fishing"? They can't blame plastic since they found only two pieces of it in one critter? They weren't very clear on that. Maybe they just need to wipe out those damned sea lions.

I don't know what they eat but read about overfishing one time, reduced the numbers a LOT a lot 0 -
I imagine "Krill" off Alaska is what they snack on. I know folks catch Krill for vitamin supplement but I thought that took place in Antarctic waters. Then again Krill is Krill, just one is easier to get at. That reminds me I haven't seen the squid boats in the bay. 0 -
its a shame the meat couldn't be used for people or at least donated to a local zoo, tons and tons of it going to waste, I agree tow it out open sea let the sharks and crabs have it............. 0 -

By the time they floated in I doubt the natives could stomach the whale. I wonder if whale oil still got use in this day and age? We are living in a "recycle" world.0 -
And yet Rosie O'Pigwart and Micheal Moore are still alive.
