Why do ants seem to like sleeping on discarded apple cores?
I toss apple cores out the door under a small maple for the squirrels to get. But it seems lately the ants get there first. It'll look like the core is covered with dead ants, no or little movement at all. But today, brushing into the overgrowth looking for a tiny important wooden part I tossed out with the shavings, I noticed the ants go running. So they are not dead.
Are they getting power naps? Sugar overload? I figured someone on this forum would know, because the internet had no clue! :!:

Took me a while but the only reason ants like sleeping on apple cores is because they don't need to move to defecate.
