Minneapolis Post Office Sucks
Sent a Certified letter to a suburb of Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park. June 10.
Mistake on address.
11013 instead of 10013.
No attempt apparently to correct. Returned to me today.
Received e mail they could not deliver to me at home as no one answered the door.
Went to PO and they had to call the carrier to retrieve my returned mail.
Maybe they are not allowed to alter (correct) certified mail.

I don't know how much you would have to include for something to get to me, but I think if you put "Gun Lady Remlap Alabama" on anything it would get here. 0 -

Let me make sure I understand this correctly.
The Post Office sucks because you screwed up?
Do you realize how many different combinations of addresses they could have change that to just with the five numbers you gave ( tip, there's 1,024 different combinations that you can get with only using 5 numbers? And it still wouldn't have been right because you didn't give the five members that you wanted to write down to begin with...

Sounds like they followed procedure just fine by returning it. That far off on the number? That's on you. The only obligation that might exist is you getting the number right, and the P.O. returning it back to you when it isn't. 0 -
i could get a letter to me with only my surname on it...and get it...only one in the county....... and everyone knows the PO employees 0 -

I worked 18 years fr the PO in small offices & we didn't know everybodies address. Minneapolis is a big place .

Brooklyn Park is the 6th largest city in Minnesota, at about 26 square miles.
And There are 24,846 housing units at an average density of 953.5 per square mile.
With 5 zip codes.
Was the house number wrong?? or the zip code wrong???

If I recall correctly, once attempted delivery of accountable mail has been made in person, the mail is to be held at the serving PO for fifteen days, with Form 3849 delivered to addressee's mail receptacle every five days beginning with the first try, before being returned to sender. It does look as if old fashioned directory-service was not made in order to correct the mistake in the zip code. Then, too, the zip could be for another city.0 -

All zip codes in the area start with 55, so the mistake is in the street address. It's asking a lot to expect the post office to guess the correct address in such a large area. Things might be different in a small town where the post office people are likely to know everyone. Not trying to pile on but the poster's complaint seems unwarranted, sorry. 0 -

If you had taken that to a clerk at any PO, they could have checked the address to see if it existed. They can do that on their computer thing they use. But you're right about the PO sucks. Just not for this reason. 0 -

So have I in small towns around the country like Mayberry where there's not a half a million addresses or so.... but Minneapolis? Even if you would have gave the right numbers, there's over a thousand possibilities to come up with with the numbers that you gave them. But you didn't even give him the right numbers there's probably hundreds of thousands of possibilities trying to figure out the right numbers...0
