Hunting and fishing is what I will do the most in retirement. Got a bass boat last fall, been out a few times with my Wife and enjoyed it. Well my Wife is not firearm friendly. So I ask her the other day if she was going to go deer hunting with me this yr.? Told her I would buy a gun for her to use. She is taking me up on it. After asking her numerous yrs. She has a short length of pull to fire anything so I started looking a youth high power rifles and ended up putting the car stock on my AR to the 12" position..length of pull. Fits her fine. A 7.62x39 will kill a deer because I have shot many with that caliber as long as the shot is under 200 yd.

    I have several garden deer.

    I use a 22 KHornet.

    That is about the limit of my deer hunting anymore. I prefer Bird and Duck hunting.

    Wife does not shoot or Hunt and she will not eat wild game.

    I just want her to have something that will kill a deer and mild recoil. I can work her up to a larger caliber later.
