Kinda' stumped here.

asphalt cowboy
I picked up an '85 Virago 1000 yesterday and tryin' to decide if I want to add a batwing into the project.
Not the one, but this is an XV1000

For some reason I can't picture in my mind how this combination would look.
So far I've found one image of a Virago with batwing, but it had an HD style fairing that doesn't match the old school look I prefer.

    I'd leave it as is myself ;) ......that's a very nice bad-ass looking scooter. I had a fairing like that on a bike back in the 80's, went thru countless windshields/plexiglass due to wind viberations, was told it was due to the windshield standing almost verticile and only secured at the bottom edge....made sense to me.

    Thanks guys. That's the same conclusion I keep coming up with.
    Being a $250 bike I'm gonna' have enough to do without adding fairing mounts into the mix.

    I thought I'd have the same problems when I added this Wixom fairing to Tumbleweed. Several thousand miles, and a few wild storms, with no issues so far.

    Mine didn't have that extra trim piece across the bottom, just screw/bolt holes.....that missing trim may have been my problem all along. I can see how that would give it extra strength and less viberation by squeezing the pieces together, being a high speed rider pushing the limits back then I always thought it was my fault :lol:

    Depends upon use. My Beemer is fully faired, and I would not think of 3000 mile trips without a fairing. For an around town scoot and Sunday rides, I would brave the bumble bees and tarantula hawks bare.

    Sounds just like the ones who say I should winterize my ride and let her set idle for three months.
    You don't put 180K+ miles on a motorcycle by parking it.

    IMHO get a removable windshield.
    Off for cruising
    On for long trips and crappy weather you'll encounter on extended trips.
    This one on and off in 10 seconds
