Stampings appear to read Broad Arrow/WD/Crown/E/9

  I?m thinking 2 band Snider rifle.Certainly seems about right length.

  Broad arrow / WD means war department
  
  Crown E 9 means made in Enfield armory
  
  Should be for a 1876 Martin Henry.

  The broad arrow WD is the old British version of our marking guns like the 1911 pistol:
  PROPERTY OF THE UNITED STATES.
  
  
  The crown with an E is their marking for government approved manufactured in the Enfield
  armory. It's on a LOT of guns.
