California Gun Owners Feel The Repercussions Of Illegal Aliens Obtaining IDs
The California Department of Justice on Monday filed an "emergency regulations" proposal. If adopted, Californians would be required to have REAL IDs to purchase firearms and ammunition beginning on July 1. The proposal is being made despite the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives previously saying Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) could continue to non-federally compliant driver's licenses and identification cards.
If a person doesn't have a REAL ID, buyers are required to provide documentation, in conjunction with their non-REAL ID, showing they're legal citizens and are allowed to possess a firearm.
Acceptable forms of documentation include:
(1) Valid, unexpired U.S. passport or passport card.
(2) Certified copy of U.S. birth certificate.
(3) U.S. Certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen.
(4) Valid, unexpired foreign passport with valid U.S. immigrant visa and approved Record of Arrival/Departure (I-94) form.
(5) Certified copy of birth certificate from a U.S. Territory.
(6) Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship.
(7) Valid, unexpired Permanent Resident Card.
If a person's name is different between the driver's license and the documentation they provides, the applicant has to prove there was a name change.
Acceptable documents include:
(1) An adoption document that contains the legal name of the applicant as a result of the adoption.
(2) A name change document that contains the applicant?s legal name both before and, as a result of, the name change.
(3) A marriage certificate.
(4) A dissolution of marriage document that contains the legal name of the applicant as a result of the court action.
(5) A certificate, declaration or registration document verifying the formation of a domestic partnership.
(6) A dissolution of domestic partnership document that contains the legal name of the applicant as a result of the court action.
Because the California DOJ filed this under an "emergency regulation," the public participation process is limited to five days.

Papers, please. You must comply. Step to the rear of the line. 0 -
Almost makes me think they intentionally set it up hoping to trip up dealers.
I don't really like to talk politics much but the illegal drivers license is on that goes all over me. I mean, they are not supposed to be here, why would we acknowledge that by giving them I.D. That's like you catch a burglar in your home. You ask them why they were there, they said to steal your TV. So, you then give them your TV? :!: :?: :!: :?:
When I first heard they were going to give I.D.'s to illegals, I thought this might be one of the 'win a free boat' scams to get criminals to come in willingly then arrest them (deport them in this case). Much to my amazement, this was real.  :oops:0 -
In Maryland, illegal aliens may be issued a "non-compliant drivers license". These are issued so that they can buy auto liability insurance, & reduce the number of "uninsured driver" incidents. Whether or not this has actually worked, no one has told us. I guess Maryland meets the definition of "sanctuary state".
I'm guessing that gun dealers have been told that a "non-compliant drivers license" cannot be used to purchase a firearm. They need to buy their guns on the street, like all the other criminals in the state.
In the name of full disclosure, I think that the Real ID licenses should be reformatted to permit stating, in big red letters, NOT VALID FOR VOTER IDENTIFICATION.

This has got to be at the request of the insurance companies pressure and democrats thinking of votes.
Why would the "people" want to give licence to kill to illegals with a drivers licence?0 -

"The people" of CA are for the most part OK with this. After all, they voted in the people who wrote the laws. When I say "the people" of CA I don't mean the normal places but rather SF, LA, Sacramento and to a certain extent SD too. Now CA who follow the rules are inconvenienced, because of illegals who don't follow the rules.
Having lived in CA for way too long, the illegal aliens aren't much worse drivers than the average Californian. A sloppier, less skilled or attentive group of drivers I have never seen in my life. I'm from Boston and like my fellow cutthroat NY drivers can still drink coffee, shave, and dial a phone at the same time I'm blitzing through a yellow light, blowing the horn and giving a pedestrian the finger. I may brush 'em back a bit to send a message (if he's in the crosswalk) but a Californian, looking up at the sky - they'll plow right into him. No consideration ?..
