Trump?s Department of Interior Axing 7,500 Regs to Give Americans Access to Federal Land

During my career I worked for the US Forest Service on 2 ocasions.
First time was while on a work-study program in college. I was on a TSI (timber stand improvement team). Our job was to kill trees! All trees except pines. Then another team would follow us and plant pines because that is what the lumber industry wanted.
Very little wildlife lives in a pine forest! But the FS caters to the lumber industry and to hell with the desires of the owners of the land - the taxpayers.
They build logging roads to access the timber and justify it by telling the public the roads will provide access to the users after the logging is finished.
Then, they pull out the culverts and gate the roads to keep people out.

The FS point out the forests belong to the American people and since the forest is full of dead trees, the citizens are welcome to all that free firewood.
However, each ranger district must hire a clerk to hand out the free permits and maintain the applicant's data.
Also, someone must be on patrol in the forest to check permits and insure firewood gatherers are operating in their assigned areas so additional rangers must be provided along with overtime pay for evenings and weekends.

In areas where hunting guides operate they are able to get permits for accessing the land with their horses. However, mountain bikes are usually forbidden because they "Damage the terrain."

Go Trump! If the forests are going to be managed for the timber industry, why not turn it over to the timber industry - with oversite.
Turn Federal fisheries management over to the fishing industry, with oversite.
Turn the FAA over to the flying industry, with oversite.
    So and so forth...

Won't work? What about the FDA? Already run by the industry. As we know, it will be screwed up - EITHER WAY. Lets save some money.

So do we start chanting "DRILL BABY, DRILL"? This $4.00 a gallon is biting. Costing me like $20 bucks extra per fill up. That's a lot of Top Ramen or Sapporo Ichiban (a.k.a. "The Good Stuff").

Currently $2.41 a gallon here Yosh.

Move the hell out of CA.

Perhaps you will see/notice an improvement.

As an aside, when has the "Government," EVER, not gotten in the way?

Each government entity, be it the forest service, the national park service, the FBI or whatever, tend to build their own empire to control the smallest detail in the most difficult method imaginable.

I say GO TRUMP and get rid of tens of thousands of regulations and the goof balls we pay to enforce them.

    :D

Think I paid $2.38 for shell regular a few days ago. Just an average typical price per gallon in Houston. If you are paying more it likely due to your state gas tax or regulations,, not the feds.

Prices have been dropping fast. US gas prices.

Yosh, it's all taxes that Jerry Brownsquirt slapped on us after he looted the gas tax road fund. 1/1/20 it goes up another $0.75 a gallon. I can't find any of the 67% that voted No on the gas tax repeal initiative, and I've damned near caused a couple of riots from asking the people standing in line to pay. A lot of them said they have been asking around too, can't find anyone that voted no, or know of anyone that did.
