Zero turn mower recomendation.

My 2004 Exmark Commercial 44" needs more repairs that its worth. Looking for a suitable replacement. Exmark no longer makes a 44" commercial mower and due to the layout of my property thats the largest I can use. Considering an Exmark residential model 42" or possibley 44'. Any other recomendations?

    I have used a Toro Titan commercial 54" for 11 yrs with no problems. Friend has a husky.. it works awesome also.

    John Deere their Z300 model comes with a deck of small as 42 in

    Gravely with articulated front wheels and the best seat available. The underside if the deck is designed to be self cleaning. The only time I clean mine out is when I change or sharpen blades.
    There are other good brands but make sure you get the BEST SEAT AVAILABLE.
    Also, don?t waste money on a ROPS unless you plan to wear the seat belt all the time. Without a seat belt, the roll bar will kill you in a rollover.

    Our local Kubota dealer will run the Z21 model on sale for $2999 which is an outstanding machine. This comes with a 22 hp Kohler IIRC. They will finance it at 0% for 48 months, but you have to buy insurance on the unit. I like Kubota and when my 25 year old lawn tractor mower finally dies, I will buy the Kubota.

    I have an Exmark too. A 60" commercial. It's been pretty bulletproof. I'd definitely buy another.
    Since Toro owns Exmark, you might look at those too. I'm sure a lot of the product lines are co-mingled.
    I don't know much about the residential models; how they compare to commercial.
    I over bought this mower (probably like you) because I was tired of repairing the flimsy residential mowers.
    But that was the stone age and I was still mowing on a garden tractor!

    I had a Snapper commercial ZTR for over 10 years, mowing about 7+ acres. Great mower and only routine service needed.

    Have also used Dixon ZTR on smaller areas, again great mower.
    Be sure whatever brand you get, you have a good dealership for local service.

    Articulated front wheels???? Aren't they all? What do you mean by this?
    Sorta like the independent front axles on a Ford F-150. Not all zero turn mowers have this feature.

    Many good suggestions above. I have to second the mention of a good suspension seat as well as actual suspension on the unit you select. Keep in mind you?ll be sitting almost directly over the rear axle. Pile driving your spine on every bump can be a real treat. Also, consider ease of cleaning/maintaining the deck. Crawling underneath a jacked up zero turn to scrape the deck and change blades isn?t a bundle of fun either. I?ve been running an older 60? Dixie Chopper for years-since it was new. There are beaucoup hours on the meter, it is a great machine and a tank in all regards, but it rides hard and deck maintenance is a PITA.

    Those are some good looking riding mowers you guys have. I especially like the looks of the Snapper commercial ZTR. But since I only mow about an acre I guess I'll continue to use my old self propelled walk behind Craftsman mower until I can't get around someday. I'll be 70 in September and so far so good.

    The hedge and shrubbery trimming is getting to be a real bummer on my back though. Extending my arms with the battery powered hedge trimmers is a pain but it's better than dragging that power cord around.
