LGS got burglarized ---- UPDATE
I was there last week.

They are in an open shopping center. The only protection for the front door was a big planter. They pushed the planter through the front door with a stolen truck. I don't give my opinion unless asked, but, every time I went there, I thought: "That planter isn't big enough." My thought was, they need at least two 8" bollards filled with cement. They do have a safe, but it's probably not big enough for all the used long guns.
Police in the next county think from video that it's the same gang that robbed another gun shop 20 miles away last week, the same way. There were 5 perps in that robbery, but one was shot dead by police when he tried to run a road block. Hope they catch them soon.

UPDATE 6/18: Local police have arrested 4 young gentlemen, & charged them with the heist. Some guns have been recovered, 14 are still missing. I suspect that they will try to make a deal with the juvenile.

Same kind of thing happened here several years ago . Stolen truck thru the front door . Crooks made off with about 200 guns . To my knowledge none have been recovered and no one ever arrested.. The shop made major overhaul to their security after that but was a case of too little too late . Many of the guns were higher end collectible types 0 -
A store here lost 70 guns to B&E several months ago.
Two (2.0) have turned up about 400 miles away, none elsewhere.
I figure bulk stolen guns will be fenced.
Some will get back into normal commerce. Unless the jurisdiction has central registration, they could go through many hands over many generations and never be recovered.
Some will go to gang bangers and armed robbers. If captured, they might go back to the dealer, if the theft report is accessible, and if he wants them, most crooks are not good about maintenance. Many places have capital punishment for "crime guns" and they will not be returned.0 -
The cops said they are "armed and dangerous." Ya think?
They just stole a hundred guns.
There used to be a big gun store in Atlanta, over on the east side on Church St. about a mile inside the Perimeter.
Brocks. My favorite gun store. Had all kinds of military surplus stuff, uniforms, boots etc.
They had 150 Swede Mausers in the rack in the middle of the floor. This was 1991 I never had heard of a Swede Mauser but I learned fast. The cheapo was $100, the mid range was $125, and the top of the line was $150. Hell I couldn't tell the difference.
And stacks of green battle packs of ammo for $75. Non corrosive match grade Swede ammo.
I bought two Swedes and some battle packs. I went back a week later and the rack was still full! I said how do y'all replace the guns I bought. The guy said, they had 300 more Swedes in crates in the back room. They had all kinds of ARs, and all kinds of pistols in the glass case, revolvers, semi autos, new, used, and also military surplus.
Well one night some guys drove a stolen station wagon through the plate glass doors, ran it in there rear bumper first.
Four guys ran in, each guy had a hammer and a pillow case and they just loaded up, mostly pistols. They busted the glass cases and just grabbed what they could. They didn't mess with the beautiful Swedes they got some ARs.
Of course Brocks had alarms but the guys were only inside about 2 minutes, the cops couldn't catch them.
They left the station wagon sitting there, they had another car in the parking lot. Brocks installed five of those hollow steel posts filled with concrete right in front, to prevent any more car crash break ins.
But Brocks never recovered from this massive loss of that night and two years later, to my dismay, they closed down.
I am astonished that gun stores still have glass fronts, and do not have some protection from car crash break ins. Hell you could get some of those New Jersey wall sections, those concrete divider sections they use on interstates, put a couple of those in front only a Sherman tank could plow over a New Jersey wall.0 -
sad to hear
should be same as murder life in prison no matter the age ( as the teens know they will get light sentencing if caught )
about a year +/- ago several + gun shops broken into into some more than once . they would drive thru the front door if I recall even a side wall was breached ( block wall ) than grab and go ,
punishment should be so bad no one would want to do it .. not a probation or few months maybe a year or two in jail l but that's the way the courts seem to go . even when ordering restitution is just a joke0 -
Where those guns go no one knows...
Like the fast and furious fiasco. Those guns will be up to no good.0 -
A few years ago had a gun shop burglary, front plate glass broken out...no security, motion activated security cameras that go to the owner instead of security company. Of course he didn't pay attention to his phone. Long guns out unsecured, pistols in unlocked glass display, unsecured. Four bandits, smash and grabbed 10-15 guns in 30 seconds and were gone. Quite irresponsible IMO. I spent many nights on patrol wondering when it would happen, I'm surprised it took as long as it did. A few of the guns have surfaced thus far. 0 -
Have a Army buddy in SC and he tells me thieves knock hole in outside wall and run heavy cable or chain around gun safe and give it a good yank. Wall pops out and safe with guns inside goes in back of truck. I guess never position safe on outside wall and make sure you bolt it down. 0
