US Blames Iran For Tanker Attacks?

If Iran is behind it then it's their form of a proxy war,they learn from the best instead of being the best! President Trump is going to have a lot of fires to put out if this escalates. Oil well fires like Iraq,you think or The Chinese or Russia coming into the conflict?

The US has officially blamed Iran for Thursday's attacks during a Thursday press briefing, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo citing intelligence reports.

The secretary of state and longtime Iran hawk said Iran's unprovoked attacks are part of a campaign to escalate tension in the region and disrupt the flow of the international oil trade (if we can't be sell our oil, nobody can, would appear to be the logic). He also said that Tehran rejected Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's outreach for diplomacy.

The US is planning to raise concerns about Iran at the UN Security Council, Pompeo said.

    It could have been a false flag attack. However, it appears to be Iran behind it.

    Any 1/2 assed navy could have torpedoed a target like that.

    would like to see the UN evicted from NYC and AMERICA...we have paid out the nose for an outfit to vote against us on almost every issue and allow a herd of overpaid foreign bums to wander around the USA with diplomatic immunity against almost every crime.....get em GONE

    "Iran did do it, and you know they did it because you saw the boat," President Donald Trump said during a phone interview on Fox and Friends Friday morning, referring to the video.

    Senior U.S. officials showed photographs of one damaged tanker with what the Navy identified as a suspected magnetic mine attached to its hull. The unexploded weapon was probably applied by hand from an Iranian fast boat, one official said, and is thought to be the same kind of weapon used to blow a hole elsewhere in the same tanker. The U.S. Central Command released a video showing an Iranian IRGC patrol boat approaching the tanker. The patrol boat "was observed and recorded removing the unexploded limpet mine," said spokesman Capt. Bill Urban.

    Why would Iran attack a tanker? What is in it for them. A Jap owned ship, and the PM of Japan was in Iran yesterday to meet with the mullahs.

    I don't see how this would benefit Iran.

    I wonder if this is a false flag operation.

    Iran keep poking the bear aka USA instead of an all out attack like the Japs did at Pearl Harbor.
    It's the rag heads playing death by a thousand cuts.

    Sending a plane over and turning the sand to glass would resolve the situation.

    I'm thinking, let ships of sea their arm them selves. Damned if I would be taken hostage for a political pawn. Most ports won't allow an armed ship tp use it's port. A couple of 50 cal's plus a few RPGs would cause a hostile fast boat to reconsider boarding and or even getting close enough to attach a limpit mine.

    If you recall when the somolians were boarding ships and taking the crew hostage several years ago (movie version: Captain Phillips w/Tom Hanks) the ship owners would not allow the crew to be armed....and many ports won't allow a armed ship to dock.

    That said, it would change if they couldn't get a crew for the ship unless they could be armed!
