Donations Wanted To Help Find A Cure
I am about fed up with all of the entities that are scamming we the sheeple for money for their worthy causes.
I have sent my hard earned dollars out to several of these causes, and have lived long enough to see that there has not been one major breakthrough in curing any of the worst plague's upon mankind. My opinions upon finding cures for cancer, MS, muscular dystrophy, ALS, etc. are that these organizations are more into funding their pocket books and self serving agenda's than they are into helping sick people.
I just say that it is better to save your money for either your own future health expenses, or give directly into the hands of friends and loved ones in need.

we don't have much but I give when possible to the VA hoptail in pittsburg, they give room and board to veterans and spouses at the VA in pittsburg when vets are in the VA hostpital. they put my wife up for 8 days and 10 days when I had my bypass and the second time when I had a heart attach/blood clot. I have ask the wife to give some of my life insurance if the bills are paid off at the time of my death, one of the few chareties I give to, I will give cash to someone I personally know needs help if they truely need help, to much waste in most chareties and I have negative
personal feelings for salvation army and the red cross, they will never get a cent from me........0 -
The two of you knock it off, and I mean right now. For over a decade a PM system was on the forum wish list, and for 3 years I had to listen to endless moaning about how the forum email system didn't work. St. Judes and Shriner's are both good. Fisher House- housing for family members at VA hospitals- one of the 10 best charities in the US. I alsodonate to the Huntington's Disease Foundation- the genetic disease that is killing my wife and 2 of our kids. But there are some "charities" that route 3 cents of a donated dollar to the actual cause.
I would personally encourage LOCAL charitable giving if you can- if you live in a rural area, the volunteer fire dept/ rescue squad are a damn good bet- but DO take a minute and look up the EXACT name of a charity before whipping out that credit card.0 -

IMO those outfits that beg for money are not worth one red cent.

Mostly due to the reasons others have already mentioned, I generally only give money directly to people in need. However, there is one thing I am very active in. It is called Folding@home. It is research done through Stanford University. You use your computer to run simulations for medical research. The more powerful your computer, the more it does. Check it out.

there are several charity watch type sites one can google to find out their financial dealings and how each is rated...some are a real eye opener !! 0 -
I have a rich uncle named Sam who does my charity work for me. He takes my money & doles it out as he sees fit. I don't usually agree with how he does it but he really never asks me anyway. Of course the amount that really gets to where it is needed is probably worse than even the poorest charities. 0
