Bought a new vehicle...
Test drove a bunch of vehicles - Tacoma, Frontier, Wrangler, and a couple F150's. The Toyota 4Runner won out.

Looked at them last year, but for whatever reason can?t get myself to by a Japanese car.
Ended up buying a 5 year old LR4. Happy with it, and saved some bucks, but I doubt it matches up with the Toyota.0 -
Congrats, that's the color of my Tundra. We have had 2 4runners over the years and enjoyed them both. The wife had a limited and I had a TRD Pro in the quicksand color. I'm sure you will enjoy it. 0 -

Love that Quicksand color. Seems Toyota discontinued it and the Cement Gray for the 4Runners. Still has them in the Taco's.
I debated a Tacoma up until the last minute. The 4Runner has more driver / passenger room inside.0 -

I held on to my 2006 Nissan Frontier for recovery duties. It's really handy to have a pickup out in the sticks for taking the trash to the dump and landscaping.
I note handling through the curves on the 4Runner seems looser than the Frontier. More Jeep like...

I gave up on Jeep 2 years ago.
I bought a new 4Runner last August and I have been well-pleased ever since.
20 MPG (+/- 4) Lots of power, lots of room.
My only upgrade was to buy a set of take-off wheels and mount Blizzaks on them for winter use. The originals give a smooth ride and slightly higher MPG but they are close to worthless in mud and wet snow.0 -

You made a very good decision with the 4runner. The wife?s daily driver is a 2016 4runner and if it wasn?t for me needing a pickup for towing and hauling I would have a 4runner for myself instead of a Tundra. The only thing we have done to both Toyota?s is add the sprint booster because I think the throttle response was lacking in both vehicles and the booster solved that issue and put on Falken Wildpeak tires. Enjoy your new 4Runner they are great vehicles. 0 -

Thanks I too really like the TRD rims. Look really good on there. Plan is to replace the Predator side steps with rock sliders. Thanks - have been researching (youtube / forums) both the Taco and 4Runner for awhile now and read lots of complaints on the throttle response and use of the Pedal Commander and Sprint Booster. From my brief drives of the 4Runner (100 miles on the clock) it doesn't seem too annoying. The Frontier w/ 4.0 V6's throttle response seems similar. It is a possibility in the future though.
You will think this is crazy but I already had Falken Wildpeak tires in the stock size added to the truck. I have them on my Frontier and they are good tires. They are a lighter and less expensive than BFG ATKO - with a good AT tread pattern. Plan to sell the stock tires (Bridgestone Dueller HT) and nerf bars on Clist or 1 of the many Toyota forums.
Talking to the dealer - they mentioned sticking to a 2 inch lift to stay away from any future warranty problems. My plan is to add a Warn 100022 winch bumper and Smittybilt 10k winch. Will then need some lift to support that weight on the front end. About to pull the trigger that today.0 -
I like it so much I'm adding it to my list to test drive this fall when I start looking for a new truck. Had pretty much decided on a Tundra, but now I'm not so sure.

4Runners are still pretty basic - 10 year old technology. Though that is still newer than the 15 year old tech on my Frontier. I don't even have traction control in the 2006 Frontier.
The 4Runner Off Road has none of the following:
Adaptive Cruise Control.
Lane keep assist.
Blind Spot Monitoring.
Self parking.
Auto braking.
Heated seats, though they are available in the off road premium.
It does have all the fun off road bits - Crawl Control, electronic rear locker, etc.0 -

I'm sold on Toyota, from my newer Tundra to my old 79 Landcrusier! 0 -
Have about 400 miles on the truck. Too late now, but I should've gotten the 4Runner Off Road Premium which has the KDSS system. That system uses a larger sway bar that helps the truck handle curves better with less body roll.
I note this one has tons of body roll in the curves plus really nose dives when hitting the brakes hard. Reminds me of driving a Buick. I'll get used to it but a little disappointed.0 -
just put new tires on my 2K tacoma...like for somebody to build a 4x4 pickup with a 4 banger again...i'd buy one 0 -
