Wow nice, and already out of my price range. Don't know that it's 50 years old with the barrel warning, is it?

A quick internet search shows late 1977/early 1978 for barrel warning.

Nice rifle and hard to find, much less in that condition. With a tang safety and in that caliber it probably dates to the mid 70's. I noticed you didn't indicate it was a Curio and relic, so I'm guessing you're not certain of the vintage. 7X57 is a great caliber and has taken just about everything walking on this planet with four...or two legs.

I didn't check the date, but the box is one of the older ones that I thought was as old as I am. I'm a bit saddened to learn I am older than this version of the Ruger box.

Beautiful gun, made in 1986 according to Ruger's serial number lookup site.

    +1

Yeap, tang safety stopped in 1991.
There was a Ruger factory update available to fix some troubles with the safety.
They sent you a set screw that you installed yourself.

The early M77's were "funny" guns. Some were tack drivers--some couldn't hold a group.
The "supposed" reason was Ruger was using barrels from everyone and their brothers.
