Non-ethanol gas
Just went and filled my gas cans with non-ethanol gas for the lawnmower, weedeater, blower and edger. That should last me for the summer. Surprisingly, it was cheaper than what I expected. Amoco Ultimate, 91 octane, $2.99 per gallon. Used nothing but non-ethanol in these small engines for the past few years. It's worth it.

Very good to hear Ben.... I have to drive 80 miles round trip to get it and also have had to pay a lot more than you noted.
I have noticed lately that unleaded gas is now just a bit higher priced than diesel here in my area. I will make sure and stock up on diesel for my Kubota tractor.
Our new Democratic governor has put into effect a new law to increase gas prices 45 cents a gallon to pay for road improvements. This will happen mid summer and make Michigan comparable to California for gas prices! I seriously doubt the new revenue will reach its intended purpose!0 -
Yes sir! I build log cabins with chain saws. I have a wood stove and a fireplace. I have 3 chain saws, expensive saws, and use 'em a lot.
And about 10 years ago my big Stihl 039, what a beautiful saw it is, was really acting up. Took it to the shop, rebuild of carburetor and gaskets cost $209.
And the chain saw guy said to me, "Do you use ethanol gas in your Stihl?" And he didn't say it, but he was thinking, " Cause if you do, you are a dumb ass."
Hell I had never heard of a problem with ethanol. And yes that was what I was using.
Someone posted a link, on this forum, to a list of non ethanol stations, around the country. And there was one, just 5 miles from my house, way out here in the woods in North Carolina. I have been going there ever since.
The Federal Government ethanol boondoggle, runs on massive subsidies, not needed anyway because we have now plenty of our own oil, the only reason it exists is because Iowa is the first to vote every 4 years.
I must hear it is funny to hear a liberal elite like Hillary, in Iowa in 2016, trying to put on an Iowa farmer accent and talk about how much she loves ethanol.0 -

Those big farm boys in Iowa need to sell thier corn products...
So the boys in DC keep pushing the ethanol down our throats.
The boating community as well as all small engine folk and most of "The People" are against it.

I learned the hard way with a CBR1000 about what ethanol gas does to carbs. Since that time I only store non-ethanol gas for my small engines including generator. I rotate 10-15 gallons every couple months to get through all my storage. I have to plan my trips as there is no non ethanol convenient, it's usually a 20 mile trip. I paid over $3.00 a gal last month.0 -
My only small engine is my snow blower, and I buy non-alc gas for it. I also treat the gas with StaBil because my can of blower gas might sit there for months before it's used up. I drain and run the blower to empty every Spring and pour any leftover gas into my car. We have non-alc at many gas stations around here. 0 -
I have a lot of family back in Nebraska that are farmers that grow corn. Every one of them thinks a person is crazy using gasoline that contains ethanol in anything.
When a person that grows the product thinks it's a bad product, that should sum it up in a nutshell.0 -

Chainsaws, two riding lawnmowers, a brush-hog, two generators and a snowblower all burn nothing but non-ethanol gas. Living near a town on Lake Michigan means several marinas and at least two gas stations sell the stuff. I don't care what the cost is, that's what our small engines get. 0 -
I had the carbs off 2 Honda mowers last year that had set unused for several years.One had non ethanol with stabilizer and the other regular ethanol gas.The one with the non ethanol cleaned up quickly and ran fine.The carb stored with ethanol fuel was so crudded up with a white residue that I had replace the carb. 0 -
Lucky, where I am in Michigan non-ethanol is super common. Even the Kroger gas station is non-ethanol so I can use my gas points. Besides having poor shelf life the mileage with ethanol sucks on most vehicles. Decrease pollution by 10% and have to use 15% more to get where you are going. Makes a helluva lot of sense to me. For small engines I still treat any gas that will set for a month or two with Sea Foam. So far so good. Bob 0 -
Just spotted that my local rural Gas station/convenience store about 7 mi. away from home has Non-Ethanol Premium at $2.79. Cheapest I have seen it in quite a while.
This is the ""Why sure Honey, pump #8 works just fine." store.
After quite a while, i got - "Well we're out of Premium Sugar."0 -

I used to have to even use Stabil for just over a winter (used late fall and early spring for leaf vac) or the gas would turn bad when 'infected' with ethanol. I knew my older truck pulled MUCH better when when fueled with real gas so when the requirement to post ethanol amounts on the pumps became law, I started running straight dinosaur gas in my 83 Hurst/Olds, 98 Chevy truck, and all my small engines. I have not had a single issue since. Not one... 0 -
I use non ethanol gas and Stabil year round now in everything on the place including weed whackers, tillers, garden tractors, generator, boat and even my 68 year old 8N Ford. I just bought non ethanol gas for $2.99, but I'll give more if I have to.
The only thing that gets ethanol gas are my vehicles and I'm starting to question that.0 -
I don't buy ethanol blended gas for any gas fired motor.
I can still find real gas w/o any ethanol crap in it.
The whole ethanol thing is a big scam ........ just like al gore and his global warming song and dance.0 -
My elderly pickup needs 93 octane and runs better on gasoline.
My van gets better mileage on gasoline, but not enough better to save the premium price over gasohol.
And we are really going to have to keep an eye on pump labels when they push E15 down our throats.
It is allegedly safe for anything since 2001 but that is according to the corn lobby and subsidizing government agency. A more objective source says 2012. Maybe.0 -

In addition, if there is an airport near you, AVGAS has no alcohol- yeah, water has a way of freezing at altitude that just endears itself to you.0
