It will never happen here where I live. Most of my neighbors are Amish. I do feel blessed to have a power line and electricity though!

Just what everyone wants: seclusion and privacy with all the amenities of civilization.

Same things happening up here in New York State on the Vermont border. Guys gotta be getting some serious OT, they are out all hours of the day, seven days a week.

My neighborhood got copper cable on poles back in the 60s or 70s, I'd guess. My house was built in the early 70s, and that's what I base my date on. Anyway, we keep seeing ads about gigabyte fiber optic service available from XFinity/Comcast - but if I give them my address, they tell me they have no plans to upgrade from copper on poles to buried fiber here -- ever.

Meh. Ookla tells me my down/up speed are 37.5 and 6 which is plenty for the uses I put it to. I don't stream, and watch only a few Youtube channels. I get my TV from the sky and/or antenna.

We kept having trouble with our internet service. It was shutting down intermittantly. Called the service guy. He said it was inside so our problem. He showed me the problem. Interior phone lines from the 1950's. Black side by side, single element wire. 3 or 4 generations obsolete. The guy gave me wire to run from the service entry to the computer jack. 40 ft. But I have to run it through 4 walls. All finished rooms so no staple hanging.
