Teddy's Son was a Badass
Theodore Roosevelt. Jr.
was the highest ranking military member to land in the first wave on the beaches of Normandy as a Brigadier General. His initial requests to go ashore with the troops were denied. Finally his request was approved when he argued his presence would inspire the numerous young and inexperienced troops. He led an attacking force to the seawall, but returned to the beaches to lead other pinned down units to the seawall. Brigadier General Roosevelt would die a few days later of a heart attack. For his actions, he received the Medal of Honor.
What makes this even more remarkable is that despite a heart condition and arthritis that forced him to use a cane, Brigadier General Roosevelt led the assault on Utah Beach.

Follow the next three generations. III, IV and V. One was a Seal. V is the weenie of the family. He only participates in full length Ironman Competitions. Yup, Teddy's descendents are true Bad Asses!! 0 -
Teddy also lost a son in the first world war. 0 -
Wrangler, thanks for pointing me to a great story. Seems like at the end, Ike, Bradley and Patton knew he was a Badass! 0 -
Ride on with the "Rough Riders" tradition.
Teddy Roosevelt was the best of the best.
Evidently his family tradition followed suit.0
